A bulky fish that is known as a grey mullet showing dining behavior and interactions with each other

A grey mullet is a good-sized big bulky fish that can be seen in coastal waters and at the mouths of brackish rivers. This study shows the dining behavior and interactions of these fish, as they are studied up close. The mullets are eating tiny particles in the water by sifting with their sizable open mouths that help them dine on food successfully. These fish are shoaling with smaller members of their families that could be considered baby fish. Many waterbirds and predatory wading birds will hunt and eat the fish that inhabit these waters, and a bird such as a heron will catch and eat these fish when they are feeding, although the smaller sized mullet are much more likely to be eaten by the herons. This water world is another example of how nature thrives and with the right combination of elements to produce unimaginable and fantastic wild animals with spectacular biodiversity for studying. These water habitats are extraordinary biospheres that are the places where the creation of life can be observed at the micro-level to reveal and provide an insight into otherwise unseen and unknown worlds on planet earth.
