Africa’s bid for a seat on the Security Council

African leaders are calling for a reform of the UN Security Council to address the continent's lack of permanent representation. Despite having 54 countries and over 1.4 billion people, Africa remains marginalized in global security decisions, a legacy of a system designed in 1945 when most of the continent was still under colonial rule.
