🍂 Autumn Plants | Leaf Cookies & Cozy Fall Decorations 🎃

To celebrate the cozy, whimsical season that is autumn – my favorite time of the year – I wanted to take you on a little fall garden tour to explore which plants are starting to show their beautiful autumn foliage, and to pick some ripe pears, apples, and plums. We’ll also press some leaves, bake autumn spice cookies shaped like maple leaves, and I’ll do a little autumn makeover in my home office and decorate it for the season. 🍂🎃

🍂 Autumn Leaf Cookie Recipe 🍂
Ingredients
250 g butter
2¼ dl sugar
1 egg
¾ dl golden syrup
2 tsp vanilla sugar
2 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp ground bitter orange peel
1½ tsp baking soda
6 dl all-purpose flour
Instructions
Beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the egg and mix well.
Add the spices: ginger, vanilla sugar, cinnamon, and ground bitter orange peel.
Mix the baking soda with 1 dl of the flour, then add it to the batter and mix until evenly combined. Gradually add the rest of the flour and mix until a dough forms.
Let the dough firm up in the refrigerator for at least one hour, or overnight.
Once the dough has chilled, roll it out into a thin layer and cut out the cookies using autumn-themed cookie cutters. I’m using maple and oak leaf-shaped cookie cutters.
Bake on the middle rack of the oven at 200°C (390°F) for about 6-8 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden brown.
Let the cookies cool completely, then decorate them with royal icing or melted chocolate.
