Vultures play a critical role in the ecosystem by serving as scavengers and cleaning up carrion, or dead animal carcasses. They are able to digest and process animal remains that would otherwise accumulate and rot, potentially leading to disease and environmental pollution.

In addition, their scavenging helps to limit the spread of diseases by removing infected carcasses before the pathogens have a chance to spread to other animals. Overall, vultures are an important component of healthy ecosystems and their decline can have negative impacts on both the environment and human health.
