Digit 5 Is Built to Work Without a Safety Cage

Digit 5 is here — and Agility Robotics is taking a major step toward humanoid robots working directly alongside people.

Unlike traditional industrial robots that operate behind safety fences, Digit 5 is designed for cooperatively safe operation, allowing it to detect nearby humans and respond by avoiding them, stopping, or lowering itself into a seated position when necessary.

But safety isn't the only upgrade.

Digit 5 can repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds (23 kg), features redesigned legs for repetitive industrial work, supports swappable end-effectors, and is designed around rapid charging — with Agility reporting around 90 minutes of operation followed by roughly 9 minutes of charging.

The platform also builds on more than 65,000 hours of Digit operational experience in real-world environments.
