Rare original color footage filmed by US Army and Navy cameramen during the North African Campaign in November and December 1942.
This second part follows American forces as they continue their advance toward Tunis through the deserts of Tunisia. With the front drawing closer to the city, US armored columns push forward under constant threat from German air attacks while reinforcements arrive by air and preparations are made for the decisive battles ahead.
The film features dramatic combat scenes, including German air raids against Allied airfields, burning vehicles, soldiers being evacuated, emergency aerial resupply missions, and the Battle of Tebourba, one of the key armored engagements fought only miles from Tunis. Rare footage documents American artillery operations, tank deployments, and the gradual German withdrawal from forward positions.
The human side of the campaign is equally present: American troops celebrate Thanksgiving at the front, Italian paratroopers taken prisoner react to captivity with surprising good humor, and growing numbers of German and Italian prisoners reveal the changing fortunes of the Axis forces in North Africa.
Particularly striking are the rare color images of soldiers from the German Afrika Korps entering captivity, alongside scenes showing battlefield casualties and the heavy cost of the campaign. Filmed near the front lines by US Army cameramen, these images provide an exceptional visual record of the final Allied drive toward Tunis during one of the most important campaigns of World War II.
