In Danny Condruti's own words:
My name is Danny Condruti. I lived in Phoenix AZ since 1995. I love the B&W format. I see in B&W, I compose in B&W, I edit in B&W. Color is nice when there is a high contrast between hues, but color is distracting, it takes away from the shapes, shades, shadows…
There is not much to photograph is Arizona for my taste, I can only shoot that many cactuses, open desert, brushes, stick trees before it gets boring. Fall foliage, well, is not around, I need to travel a few hours North to a few spots…is not like in the Northeast where all around are fall colors in the trees. Ocean?. None. Snow? Maybe but very limited and far way. City scape? Nope. All people drive, very few walk in the city. Best time to shoot? It depends if you like 115F and blue, clear, blinding sky. Winter is much better, cooler but the same locations and compositions. I take pictures when I have the time and at the right location if it presents itself. I would love to shoot oceans, moving water for long exposure, or green moss covered forests, but none here. People ask about the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Ghost Towns. Been there, done it. Like thousands before me. Same composition, same hole in the ground, same desolated desert.
I take pictures for my own pleasure. It is a hobby, not a job. I break all the rules. I imagine how I like the picture to look and do all possible to achieve it. If it fails, well it gets deleted. Is not film, it’s free. Over and over again, till I like it. I hope some people will like them too. My pictures being presented to the public at large, it is an honor and a privilege. Thank you.
