We Explored the Most Famous Deserted Island in the World

Daniel's parents have arrived and are sailing around Fiji with us. This week we are taking them to the most famous deserted island in the world. The one from the movie Castaway. But first we're heading to the Castaway resort to see real props from the movie. That's the paddle. This is supposedly the paddle from the movie. You just hang on. It has a nice frame around it and it looks pretty similar so I think it might be legit. The resort is also rumored to have Wilson the volleyball from the movie. Right here. We're having some trouble locating Wilson. I've lost the ball. Wilson's been lost. That's the same very chair. It's just like a ballpoint pen. There you go. That's the ball. Oh look at that. That's cool. Considering how Wilson was lost for a bit and no one seemed worried about it, I have to say this movie prop is a fake. But it was all in good fun though. Thank you so much. I got you girl. Trying to get that sunset. So before heading to the actual Castaway island, we of course had to watch Castaway. Before heading to the island where Castaway was filmed, we have to go to the nearby village and ask permission to anchor there. Hop in John. We'll do see-voo-see-voo at the island beside Castaway island so we can get permission to go to Castaway island. We had a see-voo-see-voo ceremony with the wife of the chief and some other ladies of the village. That was good. They gladly accepted our cava and gave us permission to explore the deserted island of Manureki. With permission from the village, we headed over to the island. John, does this island look familiar from you watching the movie last night? Yeah. No. Does it look familiar to you? Does it look like it? There wasn't umbrellas? No. No in the movie there wasn't umbrellas. I mean or chairs. Yeah. Or like those. Yeah those little huts. That movie was real. Look there's all the fish. Mommy go get more food for the fish. Where you at Dan? We're at Castaway island. We made it. We made it. A little boot anchor gun out here by. So what did it cost us? We gave them like six bundles of cava just because we don't have a lot of cash with us and we had a lot of cava that we bought and uh we went to a lot of villages and still got a lot of cava left over so we just asked them could we give them cava instead of cash for our landing fee. They try to charge 20 per person for our landing fee here but we had like five bundles of cava we took with us and just offered them for excess in addition to the one that we gave for our offering. But they did ask us to go to their little handicraft store and buy some things so we did do that and that worked out. I think Bob got him a little neck breaker and Mark got her some magnets and the kids got some necklaces and jewelry and that kind of thing so it's all good. And there's John. I'm gonna say juju. There she is. That's cute. This is nice. I remember that orange tape right there marks the trail. You can go almost to the summit as you can see that trail cutting up through there. Oh yeah. They said it's illegal to go to the very top. Arrested. So Dan, we're the only people here. What'd you think? We're the only people here. Cast away out on by ourselves, don't we juju? I might want to leave that. I might be like Bob Wilson. Might be Wilson. The tour boats cleared out and we ended up having the entire island to ourselves. The boys collected coconuts and opened them against trees. That looks good Jack. Go give it to mom and papa. We had a quiet night and woke up to a beautiful view. We have plans to pick up anchor and move north to another gorgeous deserted island, Nevada, which is known for its beaches and black tip reef sharks. For the first time in forever. Yeah it has been a long time. Milled from honey path. Just a good cheese. Don't add too much salt. They're pretty salty. Pretty salty. Don't add more. They're already salty? Yes. Oh gosh, look, look, look, look. All right, get down there and jump on one side. I think that's going all in their face. Best day ever is what John just said. More smoke for your face.
