It's been 25 years since the world changed, 25 years since 2,977 people perished in a terrorist attack, affecting the lives of countless others.
Never forget is more than a phrase.
The awful images of that, a city in shock, a city in mourning, a city that ultimately was able to draw strength and come together.
Before the game tonight, the first pitches were thrown out by Marielle Saraceni and her husband Sean McGuire.
They both lost their fathers on 9-11.
Marielle's father, Victor, was the captain of United Flight 175.
Sean's father, Patrick, was working on the 84th floor of the South Tower.
They were 10 years old when they met at a camp, Camp Better Days, which was established to provide support for children who lost a parent in the tragedy.
Hope he's at third, Rice is at first.
1-1 game, and the Yankees trying to get that lead back.
Cody Bellinger, home run number 14, takes his RBI total to 67.
How great is it to have him back?
Cody Bellinger back, and he is hot at the right.
So here is Beau Bichette.
Hits sharply and grabbed there by Lombard.
Gets to his feet, fires, and the pick by Garcia to end the inning.
Big league play there, Michael.
You don't see that made a lot, and it's all about his instincts and his ability to get the ball across the infield.
And this is the year that he's blossomed.
And Garcia drills one into the right field corner.
Let's see if Bench can get him at second base.
The throw on one hop, and he's a dead duck.
The Howitzer attached to the right shoulder of Carson Bench shows itself again,
as Garcia is thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double.
Not only the Howitzer, Garrett, but the accurate 2-2 run scored.
He leads off here in the home fifth.
And Rice hits one to left field and deep.
Going back, Soto, track, wall, see ya.
A home run the other way.
Ben Rice with his 37th of the year.
Off the bat, I mean, you'd love to see guys have good nights that stay in the opposite field.
Like I said, he came into the game struggling a little bit, stayed on the ball a little longer.
That's his third hit to left field.
Will face Hedrick with the bases loaded and two outs.
Yankees lead 5-2.
Right back to Hedrick.
It was taken into center field.
Hedrick had other ideas to end the inning.
One of the game's better hitters.
An impressive situation.
Grounded to first.
There's two.
A game-ending double play.
As Juan Soto grounds to first.
Turned into a 3-6-1 double play, and the Yankees win the first game.
