AI GeneratedThe speakers travel to Halmøya island for a two-day bouldering expedition. After being transported by boat, they spend the first day exploring caves and crevices to locate climbable rocks. The second day is dedicated to cleaning and climbing the discovered lines, highlighting the physical exhaustion and effort required to establish new bouldering routes in the wild.
Part of this trip we went to an island called Halmøya that we got recommended from some local
climbers here. They told us that the island had a lot of rock and probably more rock climbing potential.
We're here at Einvika waiting for our friends to pick us up. Should be some good potential there.
Seen some pictures of some caves there and looks like a lot of boulders are scattered on the field
below the cave. So been wanting to check this out for a while. It's gonna be cool to do it.
We brought our camping gear to stay for two days so we would get two full days of exploring and
potentially climbing. So the guys picked us up with their boat in the morning
and we went out and started the day by searching for boulders.
Boulders should be on the other side of the field.
I think there are some small boulders there.
Yeah, yeah.
So normally when we find and clean new boulders we would go looking for the boulders on a rest day
and then split the process up into different days. But since we only had two days on this island and
it was a bit of an effort to get there we had to do like the whole process in in one take. So the
first day we went exploring the whole day. We first went up into a couple of small caves or a really big one actually, one of them.
Guessbook!
And then I went to this crevasse and that's kind of where we struck gold.
Then we went up to the cave we were at first. Then I tried a project briefly but this one
turned out to be close to impossible I would say.
And then the guys decided to go back home in the evening and we went to put up our tent
and made dinner and looked at the sunset. A seal came by which was funny.
Just like that.
Next day was all about brushing and climbing the lines that we found the day before.
That was a really big day. I think we cleaned three boulders. Doesn't sound like that much but
it was a lot of work a lot of muscle on those boulders.
This is the boulder we found yesterday. It's a nice looking arete.
A lot of work today.
Could have been worse.
I think for me the exploring part was so tiring that when
the climbing like came at the end I was so exhausted that I couldn't even climb.
Like I realized how much work it is to put up all these new boulders and finding them.
I did the work. Tilo got to celebrate but I'm also happy because the boulder got climbed.
Nice to get on top of the boulders and
get a view after being stuck down in the bushes for the whole day.
Nice man!
