This high-intensity interval workout focuses on training to failure using an EMOM (Every Minute on the Minute) structure. It combines cardiovascular endurance on a bike with static strength through overhead plate holds, designed to build a \"crazy engine\" and mental willpower by forcing the body to recover under stress.
This workout is a new one I've been doing. I love it. I love intervals, certain types of intervals,
mainly ones that you go until failure. So a lot of the stuff I do is train until failure.
This one we're going to do, we just did the kettlebell swings. I would typically go straight
into this. It's going to be an EMOM style, which is every minute on the minute. That's what EMOM
We're going to do 600 meters on the biker in one minute, and we're going to continue that until
you fail to do the 600 in the minute. And it is every other minute. So because there's two of us,
it's a great one to do with a partner. And if you're solo, then you would just alternate
between the bike one minute and the plate hold one minute. So basically in one minute,
complete 600 meters on the biker, straight over, maybe 10 seconds between your minute intervals,
and then a minute hold. Straight overhead, good form, head through, plate locked up overhead.
Kalani's going to hold a 35 pound plate. I'll be on a 45 pound plate. And because there's two of us,
he'll be on the hold while I'm on the bike. Then we'll switch and he'll be on the bike and I'll be
on the hold. And you go as many rounds as possible until you fail to hit the 600 meters
in the minute on the bike. And we're both going to, I'm going to show you the pace because it's
kind of like, you got to know the pace, uh, counting down. Just over 100. The hanger starts,
this is the pace you have to hold for a minute. It's got to be at 300 in 30 seconds. You know?
You'd get off the 10 second transferring plate, flex your core, butt cheeks,
don't hold it out like this. Straight above so it's down your whole front. Alternating minutes,
one partner on the overhead plate hold, the other partner, 600 meters in the minute.
If you get 500 in the minute, typically I would go 600 until I hit a 550 or a 580 and that would
be when my workout stopped. So I might hit that sooner. So he'll just continue at whatever he
can get once he fails the 600 as long as I hold 600. We have a 10 second transfer time between
just so to get time. If I start, you go. Call it. Yeah. Yeah. Get 500.
Just continue until I hit. That's my tactic. Go, go, go.
Actually, if you're having an asthma that could happen, I'll continue.
You have to realize you're not human.
Leave the camera rolling and then shoot some of these intervals showing the wattage
when you recovered and there's some water. It's good you didn't have your red one.
Love the plate because it teaches you to recover under stress.
Just actually leave that camera there and take my phone. Splice in some.
Okay. Film them on it. Get to the next one. 45. You don't even want to qualify. You just
extend your workout. That's where the willpower training comes in. You don't have to. Each one
you qualify for extends your pain. This is me after one set. Pulse already dropped back to
130. Probably like a 165, 170 high. Say that took about 20 minutes or so. The kettlebell is
five minutes and you're going to be burned for a few hours. This workout on its own,
maybe 15, 20 minutes to be burning for a few hours. Start adding this stuff up with some
strength. You're going to have a crazy engine. You're going to be super strong. In the next
video, we're going to get into some what I call durability training. Any questions in the comments
and pray for Kalani.
