Now, The Barry Richards Show.
And welcome back to the program.
It is now 109 on a Thursday afternoon.
508-996-0500 is our phone number.
And we are happy to have you here with us today.
And I think, you know, having an interesting conversation here
about the governor's race coming up.
I mean, we are now September 10, the first anniversary
of the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the day
before the 25th anniversary of 9-11.
And we are facing an election here in Massachusetts on November 3rd.
And that's coming quickly.
And I'm wondering and I'm asking you, do you
think that the Massachusetts Republicans are making enough of a case,
doing enough to convince voters to get out and vote on November 3rd
to replace Maura Healey?
Again, as we all know, you got to be able to tell the people why they need
to remove the bums in office, right?
And Seth Moulton was not able to do that.
And again, said Markey, you can't go out and say, well, he's old.
So we got to get rid of him or whatever.
Or his name appeared in the Epstein file.
That's not enough.
You got to give people a reason to vote to throw the bums out.
Now, certainly, we all have suffered in Massachusetts
with the billions of dollars Maura Healey spent on illegal immigrants,
on the tax increases and the proposed tax increases,
and the supplemental budgets, and the 100 people a day fleeing
Massachusetts, Maura Healey wanting to raise taxes on senior prescriptions,
the utility bills that we all suffered with during the winter.
We all know that stuff.
But we have short memories.
Heating season comes.
Heating season goes.
Summer comes.
And we're all outside at the beach.
And we're all outside just forgetting about these things.
And election time comes.
If you are going to be, particularly if you are a newcomer to politics,
if you are going to try to convince the public to throw the bums out,
you cannot rely on the voters' memories.
You have to tell them why.
Now, we've been saying this for over a year.
I'm not a prophet, just somebody who's got some common sense.
I'm telling you, for over a year, Maura Healey would never run on her record.
Why would she bring any of that stuff up?
She's got an abysmal record.
Why would she bring any of it up?
So she is going to run on Trump, abortion, ICE, right?
I mean, those are her things.
Trump, abortion, ICE, Trump, Trump, Trump, MAGA,
trying to bring MAGA to Massachusetts, and this, that, and the other thing.
So those are all things that people who don't pay a whole lot of attention
to politics in the first place, that registers something in their mind.
And believe me, this is all tested.
They actually do study groups and test groups and everything else.
It's all tested.
It's not just off the cuff.
This is planned this way.
You know, they have these focus groups, and they put people there,
and they say, well, let's talk about heating bills.
And the thing goes out the charts.
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
People get all upset.
So we don't want to talk about heating bills.
We don't want to talk about energy.
We don't want to talk about any of that stuff.
Trump, ding, ding, ding, ding.
Aha, there we go.
We got an issue.
ICE, ding, ding, ding, ding.
Yep, we got another issue.
So this is all tried and true.
And then what you do is you start with the negative attack ads.
Now, Maura Healey is well-known.
Whether you like her or you don't like her, she's well-known.
She's the governor.
She's been the governor for four years almost.
Mike Minogue is an unknown commodity to most people in Massachusetts,
and all the polling shows that.
Did he miss his time to make a case to throw the bums out?
Has he got enough time to do that?
How does he do it?
Why isn't he doing it?
Is it time to push the panic button yet?
What do you think?
All right, let's grab some calls.
508-996-0500 is the number.
Thank you for hanging on.
You're next on WBSN.
Hello.
Hi.
I believe that Mike Minogue needs to, number one, come on to your talk show
and start telling people what he's doing
and what he and the lieutenant governor is doing together as a team.
And we need to hear that.
We need to hear that they're actively involved, what their plans are,
what have they been doing.
He's out just right now.
Nobody knows anything about him.
And you're right, Maura Healey will win.
And where is he?
I don't know where he is, but he needs to step forward
and he needs to get on WBSN and start talking to people.
You know, this guy, at this point, this late in the game,
you've got to figure he announced this candidacy last year in October.
Last year in October.
Maybe it was September.
It was a year ago.
Anyway, he announced this candidacy.
And after a year, the polling shows that nobody knows who he is
and nobody knows anything about him.
So that's after a year.
He's got 55 days, 54 days to make his case.
I don't know that that's enough time.
If he couldn't do in a year, how does he do it in 54 days?
I don't know.
But I mean, he needs to start letting people know what the hell he's doing.
Yeah, because, you know, and the Democrats, you know,
you're going to vote more in so that you're going to be spending more in taxes.
And she's going to take the money, the taxpayer money,
and do what she wants with it, which is what she's been doing,
not allowing the taxpayers to know how the money is being spent.
So, you know.
Yeah, but if you if you vote for Minogue, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump,
Trump, abortion, abortion, abortion, ICE, ICE, ICE.
That's all she's got to say.
And that works with people.
Megamite, Megamite.
He's going to bring Trump policies to Massachusetts.
Do you want that?
Well, it is scarce to be Jesus out of people
because people are not with all due respect to my my fellow Massachusetts
residents, people are not all that bright when it comes to stuff like that.
Well, they're not certainly not paying attention.
And then later, they'll be bitching up a storm about, you know,
the taxes and all kinds of things that she's going to continue to do
because she's been able to get away with that.
Yeah, absolutely.
Thank you, my friend.
I got to hold you right there.
Appreciate it.
508-996-0500 is the number.
And we'll go right here next year.
Next, then WBSM.
Hello. Yes.
OK, you know what I want to tell you?
I think a lot of the senior population don't know nothing about what's going on.
A lot of them are announcing.
They don't worry about electric bills or the heating bills
because they don't have to worry about it.
Good point. Yes.
I think because I'm a senior, I know, but I own my own home.
I know I'm very interested in everything that goes on.
But you'd be surprised.
We have a lot of housing around here.
And I don't think any of those people I know because I talked to some of them.
They don't even want to talk about it.
They don't care who gets in.
I think that's the way I feel.
And when I go to the hairdresser, nobody talks about the politics.
I'd love to talk to politics.
I like that.
But you'd be surprised that people don't want to talk about it.
It's a shame.
Well, it's true in my in my circle of friends, too.
I mean, people just don't want to talk about it.
There's there's so many other important things to talk about, like the Patriots
and, you know, and who's coming in concert and all this kind of stuff.
You know, nobody wants to talk about that.
No, that's wrong.
Yeah, that's wrong.
You know, we love our country.
My husband was a World War two vet and I love my country.
And I like to talk about it because I'm very proud of it.
You know, and the fact that a lot of people won't talk about it
is exactly why socialists are taking over our country right now.
And it's so sad to see it.
Thank you, my friend. I appreciate it.
I love you and I love chatting with you.
I got to move to the next call, though.
Thank you. 508-996-0500.
You're next on WBS. I'm going to have to know.
Hey, Barry, I love hearing from the seniors, man.
They got some serious. Yeah.
A lot of them have serious knowledge.
Hey, I do believe that
there's not many Republicans that pay bills
that won't come out and vote against healing.
I think bottom line, even if you're the most ignorant voter in the state
on the Republican side, and there are a lot of them on both sides.
I do believe that when it's time to vote,
they're going to vote with their pocketbooks, pocket wallet,
whatever the case, and vote, because we all know that there's no it's no secret.
Utility bills are jacked up because of with the help of more healing.
You know, that to me, that's going to be the bottom line.
I truly believe that Election Day will be a lot different than the primary.
Like, oh, yeah, it usually is.
I mean, there'll be a higher turnout and there'll be more voters going out.
But if every Republican in the Commonwealth turns out to vote for Mike
Minogue on on November 3rd and every Democrat turns out to vote for more
healing, well, the Democrats considerably outnumber the Republicans.
So now you got to count on the the unenrolled,
which is about 60 percent of the population.
And, you know, the unenrolled most often tend to lean toward the left
and lead to the Democrat lean toward the Democrat.
Has anybody done a good enough job to try to reach out to those people
and say, hey, lean this way instead?
Hmm. Yeah, no, you're right, Barry.
But one other point, if I may make it, please, is that,
you know, and I'm not blowing smoke at you.
You're well read. I love listening to you.
And I was the day of the for the primary.
I still was in the middle.
Like I just I want Helio.
I think that's no secret there.
And I would have voted for either of these gentlemen if they were to get the seat.
And I did go with and you did have an influence on with short sleeve.
I did because I've been leaning that way anyway.
But you kind of sealed the deal for me.
And I voted for him.
Did I think he would actually get the nomination?
No, I didn't.
But I did because I thought it was the right thing to do,
because that's really the way I want. I was right.
So that being said, at this point, I will vote for Minogue.
So I think a lot of folks like me are going to come out and just.
Yeah, Haley, you're done.
You know that. Don't let the door hit you in the rear end on the way out.
Absolutely. My hope, Barry.
Once again, Barry, I think we've talked about this.
If it doesn't happen,
I'm going to have to I'm going to have to leave the state
because I'm not getting any younger, my friend.
Yeah, I hear you.
And we'll be sorry to see you leave.
But I think there's a lot of people like you.
Still 100 people a day.
Hightail on their butts out of here.
I'll still call you, OK?
Thank you, my friend.
All right. 508-996-0500 is the number.
And you are next on WBSN.
Good afternoon, Barry.
In regards to what you were talking about, David Morales,
the one that won in Providence for mayor.
Yeah. You know, you know, I've been on a media search on this guy
and I and I and I strongly believe he's not even a citizen.
If you look at all the information that the media will tell you is
they state that he was born on September 16, 98.
It won't tell you where he was born.
His his mother was a illegal immigrant here.
And I believe that his Republican opponent
should jump on that and do do what Trump did to Obama
in regards to the birth certificate.
Yeah. Another birth certificate controversy.
But certainly, no, I think that's that's fair.
I think that's fair.
Yeah, because, you know, why would the media not tell you the whole story?
Just tell you that he was born in 98
and I and I searched all morning trying to find some information on him.
And that's the that's the most you will get.
They will not tell you where he was born.
And but they do mention that his mother was illegal here.
So I just have if I was a Republican opponent,
I will have proof that he's a U.S. citizen.
Yeah, no, I think, you know, people get all sensitive
and get all offended when certain issues have come up in campaign.
But look, all is fair in love, war and politics. Right.
And opposition research is important.
And as long as it's on the level, you know, if it's on the level, if you've got
if you do a Google search on this guy, you can't find out where he was born.
I think it's fair for a candidate to say, where were you born?
Tell us where you were born. You give us the details.
I think that's a fair question and a fair issue.
If you're going to make up stuff like, you know, the the the dossier
with Trump and all of that, that's all made up opposition research
that Hillary Clinton paid for.
That's a different story.
But if you're going to if this is certainly and it was fair with Obama.
Well, if you were born here with all due respect to you, my friend,
show us your birth certificate.
If there's any questions, you should do that.
Yeah. And there is a question here.
And, you know, he's he's
he's deeply represented by Kamala Harris supporters.
You know, I mean, so but but I know that this is an issue.
Maybe it's like the third rail.
They won't touch it.
But the Republicans should hit him hard on this,
because if you can't make a simple search
and look into this guy's history and find out what he was born.
I don't trust the media 100 percent,
but it seems like there's a cover up here and they're not reporting.
You know, I'm more interested in having information like that.
I want I'd rather know more about a candidate's
upbringing, where they came from and so on and so forth
than I am about their tax returns.
You know, we've all of a sudden made manufacture this big issue
that, well, if you don't turn in your tax returns and you're not,
there's no law that requires
any candidate to turn over his tax returns and make them public.
And they shouldn't.
What I make for a living, what I pay in taxes, what I give for donations.
That's my business. None of your business.
But damn my background and where I grew up and where I was born.
That is everybody's business if I'm running for for public office.
So, you know, I think that that is something that
people should look more carefully into. I definitely do.
Yeah, because I've been all over it.
I mean, I went to Whittaker.
I went to Google. I've done a lot, you know, because I want to me.
I want to be right here.
I just found he was born September 16th, 1998 in Soledad, California.
That's it. Yeah.
He was born in 98 in Soledad, California.
He went to the University of California.
What's that?
Is that saying that he was born in California?
Yeah. Born in Soledad, California, 1998 on September 16th.
His education was the University of California Irvine.
He's got a B.A. from their Brown University.
He's got an MPA.
And let's see if I can.
Yeah, thank you. You grew up.
Here we go. And he was raised in California.
Yeah, he was. It says Morales grew up in the rural working class
town of Soledad, California.
He was raised by a single mother who often worked multiple jobs at
once to support him and his younger sister,
including working at a gas station, picking vegetables.
He has regularly cited his mother as his greatest inspiration,
becoming politically involved, both praising her perseverance
and wanting to change the conditions of poverty,
which he saw her experience.
You know, I read that, Barry, and it said raised, not born.
Well, it said I says, oh, right, right above it.
If you I'm looking at Wikipedia right now, if you look up
above under personal details, it says born September 16th,
1998 in Soledad, California.
Yeah, because I'm looking at I'm looking at the page you're talking about.
And since he was raised by a single mother, he raised
it doesn't say nothing about being born.
But but listen, you understand it better than me.
And I mean, I don't understand a whole lot.
I'm not that bright.
I just I'm just reading to you what I what I what I have in front of me here.
That's all because what I would have liked to say he was born
versus he was raised.
There's a difference.
Well, it says it said both.
It said he was born and then it gave the details.
And then when you get into the the
you know, the story part of it, it says he was raised in Soledad, California.
But it does say right above that, that he was born.
I think it said September 16th.
I've moved away from it now in
Soledad, California.
So I don't know.
I'll keep looking around and see what else I can find.
Apparently, he was a wrestler, too.
I guess he did some wrestling.
OK, and if I'm wrong, I apologize to David.
Yeah, well, you know, it's tough to find.
You know, I Brian Schwartzlieb.
I tried searching all over on Brian Schwartzlieb to find out where he was born.
And his campaign material says he was born in Massachusetts
and that he owns homes, two homes in Massachusetts.
But I've never been able to find out where he was born.
And no, because it says, you know, David, I read it right here, right?
David Morales was born, born September 16th.
But it doesn't say where I know it says he was born
in September 1698.
But where was he born?
Yeah, if you go to that, they don't say if you go to Wikipedia,
they always have like a little section that gives you like,
you know, hard facts born party offices held and that kind of stuff.
And under that part of both the story,
you'll see that it says born
in Soledad, California.
I can't vouch for that. I wasn't there.
So I don't know. But
but that's what they're saying on Wikipedia.
But I'm going to keep doing some checking on some other sites
to see what I can find out if I can come up with more information.
OK, like I said, if I'm wrong, I do apologize to David.
But I myself, I confess by my curiosity.
Yeah, right. Yeah, no, I mean, those are all legitimate questions.
There's no such thing as is an illegitimate question
when it comes to stuff like that.
So and I'm glad you brought it up because I wasn't even aware of that.
But another carpetbag who's 27 years old, he comes to Providence
and wants to run for office here.
Why doesn't he run for office in Soledad, California, where he
where he was raised?
You know, if his inspiration was his mother and helping her to get out
of poverty in Soledad, California, go stay there and fix up your place.
Why are you going to come to Providence and and run for mayor here?
Well, he went to Brown University, so I guess that's a part of it.
But I don't know. Yeah.
It's like in Massachusetts, you know, we it's been 28 years
since Massachusetts voters have elected a Massachusetts born governor.
And I don't know why we keep picking these outsiders.
They come in here.
They move to Massachusetts thinking they have a better shot of winning.
I guess I don't know.
Thank you, my friend.
I got to hold you right there.
508-996-0500 is the number.
And you are you are next on WBSM.
Good afternoon.
I have a question.
I almost hung up because my question or my thought, I should say,
sounds so ridiculous, but it's really gnawing at me every day
when I hear you or others talk about how Manal just won't debate
and he won't go on a program and tell you anything
that is beneficial for the voters to
pick up on and get involved with.
You don't think I mean, everything's a possibility
where he's not going.
He doesn't want to tell us anything.
Nobody knows who he is.
He's our only choice.
You don't think Mara Healy's got him in her back pocket, do you?
Yeah, I don't think so at all.
I don't think that's the case.
I think he's getting some bad advice.
I think, first of all, you know, and I've said this from the beginning,
so I'm not going to change it now.
I think Mike Minogue is a very arrogant guy.
He's very successful guy.
He's an American patriot.
He was a you know, he led infantry troops in the army.
I mean, this guy, this guy, he's done a lot.
He's had a business.
He's, you know, created a lot of jobs, got a beautiful family.
I don't know if you haven't seen his wife and his five kids.
And he's a very successful guy.
I think he's brilliant.
And I think he probably has some very good ideas to help Massachusetts.
I just think he's arrogant.
And I think he's full of himself.
And I think he thinks that anything he touches turns to gold.
And I think he thinks that just simply by announcing I'm running for governor,
that everybody's going to flock down and kiss his feet.
And but it doesn't work that way in politics.
Politics is a lot different than business.
Politics is a lot different than the military.
Politics is a lot different than raising your family.
He's got to go out and fight for this like like never before,
because he's up against the Democrat Party.
He's up against them.
You know, he's up against all of the news media and all of these kind of things.
All of these people don't know him.
They don't know he's a winner.
They don't know that everything he touches turn to gold.
Right. So, you know, he's he's he's he's he's going to learn,
I think, a very valuable lesson here.
And, you know, again, I have I have nothing against Mike Minogue.
I hope every day that Mike Minogue wins this election.
I don't think he will.
Yeah, I just don't think he's doing what he needs to do to win.
And I sit here and I scratch my head because he's got so much going for him.
And it almost seems as though he's not trying.
Well, that's the whole point.
That's what made me have that ugly thought, you know, that she's had.
She has part of this and he's right in her back pocket.
But I didn't want to believe that.
And I really don't believe it.
But you wonder, what did you say?
There's forty five or fifty four days left to vote.
I think it's fifty four.
I think it's fifty four days.
Yeah. And he's still does anyone know any more about him at this point?
I don't. And I wish I did.
Yeah. The people who are in his circle and that, you know,
they'd really follow him closely, they probably know.
But, you know, the average Massachusetts person, hey, look, you know, people,
you know, they have they get up in the morning, they go to work,
they got to get their kids off to school.
They've got sports after school and, you know, dance lessons
and piano on the weekend and all these other kind of things.
They don't have time to sit down and and do candidate research online.
They need the candidates to come to them.
And, you know, more Healy, like all the other candidates in the country.
It's not just her.
They have these flashy 30 second ads that are hate attack ads that run.
And I don't care what anybody says about attack ads.
They work. They work big time.
Yeah, they they work.
Because all you have to do with an attack ad is is just
create a doubt in somebody's mind.
Oh, my God, is this guy really going to do what Trump's doing?
And you don't even know what that is.
But more Healy on TV just said he's going to do what Trump's doing.
Oh, my God, do we want to?
So, you know, all you got to do is create a doubt about somebody
and that's what they do in attack ads.
That's why they show shadowy photos of them in those ads.
And, you know, something he's probably picking his nose or something,
you know, and they put a picture of him doing that in the ad,
you know, to show him in his worst possible way.
But it works.
And 90 percent of the population, that's the only exposure
they ever get to these candidates is through opposition attack ads.
And, you know, he's got to do that kind of stuff, too.
It works. And, you know, it does.
But when and when is the case, you know, and he's got to.
Yeah, it's got to fight back.
Remember Mitt Romney?
Do you remember Mitt Romney when he was running for a governor
and or maybe he was running?
No, he's running for the presidency at that point.
And what was the name?
Harry Reid, the Senate Democrat, Senate majority leader,
came out with this big story about how Mitt Romney used to go on vacations
with the with the family and strap his dog on the roof of their station wagon.
Do you remember that?
No, I don't.
Well, he said that I heard that at the end of 2012.
So it was a long time ago.
Mitt Romney never pushed back, never said, no, I don't show me pictures.
He just laughed at it because he thought it was so absurd.
Nobody would believe it.
But people to this day still believe that Mitt Romney
used to strap his dog to the roof of the station wagon when he took his family.
I don't even think Mitt Romney owned a station wagon, to be honest with you.
But it doesn't matter.
You say it in an attack ad and it works.
People believe it.
And there have been a million other cases like that, too.
But I have a few girlfriends
that we go out for lunch and so forth being being seniors.
And we've decided that we can't talk about politics
because it just gets into, well, that's not true.
And this is that. And this is that.
Well, I brought one of the girls home last week and she says,
I know you don't like to talk about it, but.
And she started jumping all over Trump.
Well, he did this and he did that.
I said, that's not even true.
Look it up.
I'll find the research on it and send it to you.
But she was adamant.
Now, all you got to do is say to them is show me the proof.
Don't offer to look it up for them because they will say, show me where you read that.
That's what I do when people call my shows.
Where did you read that?
Tell me where you read that so that I can look it up
and so that my audience can look it up because my audience is a bunch of smart
cookies. If you tell us what paper you saw that in or what, you know,
we could go online and we can look it up and we can find it.
We'd like to know.
And they can't.
They they can't.
And then you then you start to question them on that.
Well, how can you believe something that you can't even source?
You don't even know where that came from.
Somebody told you that and you're going to believe that.
What if somebody said that about your kid?
Can you imagine if somebody, you know, accused your kid of doing something
unspeakable and you know your kid didn't do it, but they said it anyway?
And you're just going to believe that person?
Are you going to say, I want proof?
Show me the proof that my kid did that.
Yeah, that's true.
That's a good way to look at it.
Yeah. And you know what?
I end more discussions that way.
I'll tell you what my wife and I have very believe it or not,
my wife and I are very different politically and we just don't even talk
about it. We just I'm not going to change your mind.
She's not going to change mine.
I'm sick of sleeping on the couch.
So, you know, we don't even talk about politics at all.
We just find things that we can talk about and get along with.
So that's possible.
And, you know, that's the way it used to be back in the old days.
If we if we started to have anybody in society,
if we started to have a conversation about politics or whatever
and we didn't agree, we just move on to the next thing.
And we didn't hate each other.
You know. Right. Right.
Yeah. Thank you, my friend.
I got to hold you right there. Excellent call.
I appreciate it very much.

And thank you for hanging on.
You're next on WBSM.
Good afternoon, Barry.
Hi. Yeah, I believe a lot of your seniors
don't know enough about this Mike Moneau.
People talk about electric bills.
Well, where I live with a lot of seniors, we
we don't pay electric bills.
It's all included in the rent.
Yeah. So I wouldn't know what electric bill would cost.
Yeah. Same, same where I live.
I mean, my utilities are included in my rent.
So, I mean, we don't we don't necessarily see that.
And I like to know a little more about him.
I probably will vote for Mike Moneau just to get rid of
Maura Healy. But, you know,
also, I don't want to make a mistake because I think I made one voting for this
what city council and to Penn, Penn, Penrose,
what his name was, Scott Pendleton.
Yes, because I understand he wants a no police zone or something in ward two.
I haven't heard that.
Yeah, I heard that this morning on the radio on your morning program.
Let me look more into that and I can I can find out more
and I can inform you about how he stands and what it is that's being proposed.
You know, I'm so damn involved in the governor's race and all of that
that we haven't even had much time to talk about other topics on the program.
So but I will look into that.
Was that with Tim or with Chris that you heard that Chris with Chris?
OK, I'll talk to Chris tomorrow and I'll find out.
Yeah. What was the high crime area?
And I don't know where his head is if he wants that.
So see, so you can make mistakes
voting for somebody if you don't know who they are.
And I don't know enough about Mike.
You know, I probably will vote for him, but maybe I'll make another mistake
because you can make mistakes.
Well, it's you know, it's awful to have to vote for somebody
just so that you don't have to vote for the other person.
You know what I mean?
I like to be excited about the candidate I'm voting for.
You know, I go vote for Donald Trump.
I proudly do that.
I come out, put my Trump hat on and everything else.
I'm proud to vote for Donald Trump.
And I, you know, the thing with Mike Manoog, I'm with you.
I mean, I hope he wins.
I know he's a decent guy based on what I know about him.
But I don't know whether he'd make a good governor.
Yeah. You said he has good ideas.
Well, well, I like to hear those ideas.
You know, a lot of you see, I tell you, a lot of your seniors
didn't know who short sleeve was either.
Oh, my. Exactly.
I mean, yeah, I don't know.
I mean, you know, they got to come out.
He's going to come out and sell himself.
He has people selling him, but he's going to do it himself.
I don't know that he's got enough time.
And that's what I'm worried about.
We've got 54 days.
He hasn't been able to, you know, convince people who he is in the last year.
And he's got 54 days. He's going to do that.
Oh, I don't know.
You feel like he's his campaign is just running on.
He's taking it for granted.
We get a bad governor and he figures people
were just going to come out and vote for him, but maybe not.
You know, well, I agree with you 100 percent.
I think that's what they're thinking.
And I think that's a bad strategy.
I've said from day one, this guy's got a bad strategy.
Who's planning his campaign for him? I don't know.
But, you know, hopefully there's going to be enough.
You know, every Republican in Massachusetts could come out and vote for him.
And that still wouldn't be nearly enough because there are more Democrats
and most people in Massachusetts are unenrolled.
And the unenrolled people tend to lean Democrat.
So you got to man, you got to dig into that.
We used to call him the Reagan Democrats back in the old days, the independents.
Yes, you're right.
Like in this city, usually it's a Democratic city
and you know where they're going to vote, you know, and if he's
if he's not paying attention to this to this area, well, he might
he might be surprised.
Well, you know, the thing is, I don't think people
I think what the human nature is for people to say,
I don't know enough about the candidates, so I'm not going to vote
as opposed to, well, I don't know enough about the candidates,
but I'm going to vote for this guy because I don't like that one.
You know, I just stay home.
They just stay home. Yeah.
And I think that that could happen here.
And, you know, that would be most unfortunate.
Thank you, my friend.
I got to hold you there. Appreciate it.

Hey, Barry. Hey, you know, this election will be very important
and people have to study the issues.
I get the senior scope, which is a publication.
They put it out to 20 June of this year
by it is an article by Matthew Dance, Dancero.
He's a community outreach and engagement coordinator
for the Dalmatian Council on Aging.
And he wrote many people across southeastern Massachusetts
have noticed a significant increase in homelessness in recent years.
Encampments can now be found in wooded areas behind businesses,
near rail lines and even in suburban communities.
People are also living in cars, motels, overcrowded apartments
or temporarily staying with friends and family because they have nowhere else
to go in Bristol County.
There are individuals over the age of 80 years old living in encampments
and vehicles.
They are individuals trying to manage serious illness such as cancer.
Those who use wheelchairs, those with feeding tubes
and people on dialysis who are living on the streets.
Housing crisis now extends beyond traditional assumptions about homelessness.
He said, having worked with unhoused individuals for nearly 30 years,
I can say this is the worst housing crisis I have ever seen.
More and more people experiencing homelessness.
Our first time as individuals will never imagine
that they would be they find themselves in this situation.
This shortage creates a chain, he goes on to say.
One example is the growing number of low income seniors living alone in homes.
They can no longer realistically maintain.
Many would gladly move into smaller senior or subsidized housing units
if they were available.
Unfortunately, the wait lists are very, very long.
And he goes, he goes on to see at the same time families looking for
the purchasing homes can no longer find inventory.
Renters can can't transition into homeship and so on.
But many older adults today are only one unexpected event away
from housing instability.
A rent increase, medical emergency, loss of a spouse or unexpected expense
can quickly become overwhelming for someone living on fixed income.
Many older adults face additional barriers such as limited savings
and mobility issues, poor credit or medical conditions
that make relocating even more difficult.
Homelessness is no longer an issue affecting only a small segment
of the population.
It's increasingly is affects seniors, working individuals, families
and people with disabilities who who simply cannot find housing.
I've got I've got to interrupt you because I got to hit a break here.
But that is this this the latest edition of Senior Scope
so that people can look it up in a scope.
June twenty twenty six.
The title is Housing Crisis Increasingly Affects Older Adults.
And it's put by Matthew Dan Dancer.
His last name is D.A.N. S.E.R.E.A.U.
I'm reading this to you because you might be aware of this.
But just to let our seniors that this election is very important.
How important it is to them.
Thank you for sharing that with us.
I do appreciate it. And I know they do.
All righty. Time to head into the newsroom.
We're going to get the two o'clock news out of the way.
Then we're going to come back and chat more with you.
