The Tim Weisberg Show.
Welcome back.
And our number two of the program here on Tuesday morning.
I got to keep checking the computer to make sure I don't say Monday.
So, hope that you are ready for getting back to real life.
Hope that you got to enjoy Labor Day weekend.
But we're back to reality.
I used to have a boss at my last cooking job.
Bob, if you're listening, sorry for the impression I'm going to do for you right now.
But every Monday morning, we would come back from the weekend.
I mean, this guy lived for his weekends.
I'm assuming he still does.
Lives for his weekends.
It's all that he talked about all week long.
Can't wait for the weekend.
Like he lived for his weekends.
And every Monday, it would be back to reality.
That's what he would say.
First thing he would say every Monday.
And if it was after a long weekend, it would be accompanied by an extra big sigh.
Back to reality.
So, here we are.
Back to reality.
For some of you, your reality was having to work Labor Day weekend.
And we appreciate that.
I did nothing.
Well, I mean, I did fun stuff.
But I didn't do anything.
Saturday, I did nothing.
I don't even think I left the house.
Did I?
I don't remember.
Sunday, we got together for my mom's birthday, which had been Friday.
But we got together on Sunday.
And then yesterday, I went and saw Coyote vs. Acme.
If you haven't seen that yet in the movie theater, it's a fun time.
This is the movie that Warner Brothers made and then shelved.
Because they thought it would be a better moneymaker for them as a tax write-off than to actually release in the theaters.
And that's not to say that it's a bad movie.
But they just didn't think people were going to go see it.
And they didn't think that it was worth releasing.
And another company ended up buying it from them because the movie was completed.
It's not like that Batgirl movie that they also made that they shelved, where they shot the film, but they hadn't done any of the effects work or anything.
They decided after they shot it, they're like, this movie is a turkey.
We're not even going to bother going forward with it.
But with this Coyote vs. Acme film, they'd finished the whole movie.
And were ready to release it and just decided not to.
And for some reason, they decided that people weren't going to want to go see it and that it wasn't worth putting out in theaters.
And at the time, that might have been true.
Theaters were definitely struggling more a couple of years ago than they are right now.
We just had one of the biggest summer movies seasons, actually the biggest summer movie season of all time in terms of dollars generated.
Movies in the theater are back.
And I was watching all weekend to see when I could go see this movie.
And pretty much all weekend, the showings were sold out in Dartmouth.
So it's definitely doing well.
But if they had released it when it came out a couple of years ago, and by the way, they sold it to somebody else.
Somebody else is the one that took the risk of putting it out and marketing it and distributing it and all that.
But if they had put it out a couple of years ago, it probably wouldn't have done nearly as well.
And that might have been the end of Looney Tunes.
But now they're probably looking at this and saying, we could make more.
Next time we could be the ones making it.
We'll just we'll trim the budget a little bit.
And then we'll put it out ourselves.
It was a fun movie.
It was a funny movie.
Had a lot of heart.
A lot of great cameos.
It was perfect for anybody of all ages.
If you were a young kid and you'd never seen Looney Tunes before, you'd enjoy it.
If you are a longtime Looney Tunes fan, a lot of little Easter eggs for you.
The one downside for me was I had a guy in the row in front of me that just thought everything was the most hilarious thing he'd ever heard and was so loud with his laughter.
But I'm glad I'm glad that he enjoyed the movie.
508-996-0500.
Good morning.
You're next on WBSM.
Good morning, Kim.
Morning.
On the weekends, that man that comes on with the news in the afternoon, he repeats.
He's two days behind already.
And I heard him on Sunday.
It was so awful.
And then yesterday, he was repeating what he had done on a Sunday.
Stew Edwards or Stew something.
Oh, please, don't have that company.
I don't have anything to do with that, ma'am.
That's from the National Network.
Oh, they repeat two days behind.
And I'm bedridden.
And I listened to your station.
But I had to change it yesterday.
I couldn't stand it anymore.
He was repeating everything he had said on the Sunday, you know, and I didn't like it.
And it gets sickening.
You hear that every week.
The weekend, every weekend, they're on.
They're terrible.
I forgot to let you know.
I appreciate it, but I really have no control over it.
That's the network.
I don't have anything to say in the network programming.
Okay, thank you.
I'm sorry, Tim.
No, no problem.
I'm sorry that that happens.
Yeah, bye-bye.
Okay.
Yeah, the stuff that they do on the weekends, I have no control over.
Just our computer switches over to the network, and they program all of that.
So if they're repeating it, it's probably because they had the weekend off too.
But, I mean, also, they're also assuming, you know, obviously, as she said, she's bedridden,
so she just listens to the radio all the time.
But they're also assuming that on, you know, a holiday weekend, people aren't just sitting there listening to the radio the entire day.
They're catching it in bits and pieces.
So that's why you'll hear a lot of things repeated, like when you watch the news on television, you know.
They repeat the top stories every few minutes.
And that's because they assume people are tuning in and catching a little bit and then moving on to something else,
and then other new people come in.
You know, the average radio time to listen, like they measure radio listenership in quarter hours
because they think the average person is only listening to anything for 15 minutes.
That's why we have news at the top of every hour.
That's why in the morning we have national news every half an hour,
because the assumption is that people are coming in and out, in and out, when they're doing their, you know, their morning routine.
We're a little bit of an anomaly here at WBSM that we have a lot of people that listen all day, every day.
That usually doesn't happen even in talk radio.
Even in talk radio, do you not usually have a dedicated audience that follows you all day long?
And part of that is, you know, we've built a mechanism for that to be possible with the WBSM app,
where if you've got the app, you can wake up in the morning.
The app is your alarm clock.
You can set your alarm in the app to wake you up at whatever time,
and you can be listening to the stream when you wake up.
And then when you walk into your living room, if you're still listening on your phone, that's great.
That'll work.
If not, maybe you start listening on your Alexa device or your Google Home device.
And then when you get into your car, maybe your Bluetooth and your SmartDash picks up on that.
I don't have a SmartDash.
I went out and got one of these, I don't know what you would call it, like a peripheral that does Android Auto and the Apple Auto.
I don't know what the name of it.
CarPlay, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
That's what it is.
And so now when I go into the car, instead of having to have my radio on WBSM, which is fine when I'm around here,
but if I'm somewhere else, it doesn't really come in.
But now it just picks up my app.
So if I'm listening on my app, walking around the store with earbuds in when I get into the car, that's picking up right where I was.
And so now the mechanism is there to just keep listening all day no matter where you're going.
But we are a bit of an anomaly in that regard.
The good part is for those of you who do get to listen all day and do stick with us all day, there's a chance for you to get rewarded.
Because starting next week, we are bringing back, everybody loves it, money talks.
So starting next Thursday, a week from this Thursday, we are going to start giving away money with codes every hour.
You know how it works, right?
You hear the codes come on.
You go to WBSM.com or the WBSM app and you enter in those codes.
It happens every weekday.
You're going to get codes, 10 codes every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
And we're going to be giving away $250 every day.
And then the grand prize winner will win $25,000.
So you're going to have plenty of chances to win because it starts next Thursday, September 17th.
And we're going to share 10 codes every weekday all the way through Friday, October 16th.
A whole month of opportunities to try to win money.
To try to win $25,000 or the $250 daily prize.
And we want to thank our great sponsor for making this happen, Softub Spas of Dartmouth.
So we'll have more coming your way on that.
But that's going to start next Thursday.
So if you don't have the app downloaded already, that's the easiest way to do it.
Because you've got that with you everywhere you go.
And you can enter your codes each time you hear them.
By the way, I'm just going to tell everybody this now.
Because I know this has become an issue when people are trying to enter things on the app.
When it asks you for your birth date, you do not have to go through the calendar all the way back to the year you were born.
If you just press the year, tap the year that you were born.
Tap the year in the corner. So it's going to say 2026 up in the corner.
Tap the 2026 and that will allow you to select the year.
So if you were born in 1952, you can hit that and then go back and select 1952.
And not have to scroll all the way back.
I know that's been an issue for some folks in the past.
But I figured I'd be smart about it and remind you now.
That you don't have to go all the way back.
You can just press the year, tap the year on your screen, and change it.
And the same thing happens if you're doing it online.
You can just click on the year and change the date.
All right. I'm going to take a break here.
508-996-0500.
AppChat and OpenLine voicemails available to you on the WBSM app.
We have a couple of today's Gen X files coming your way.
Brought to you by Rewind, Restaurant and Arcade in Wareham.
And we will also talk a little bit about FLOC.
Because not only did the police release their findings of their investigation into how FLOC was used by their officers.
But they're asking for your opinion on whether or not it should even continue.
And if it should continue, the proposed guardrails they put in place.
And they want you to enter that survey on the police department website.
We have it linked up on our story at WBSM.com and on the WBSM app.
The police have put it on Facebook as well.
They want you to answer that survey so they can get an idea of how people feel about it.
But we know that the City Council is moving forward.
Meetings this week, Ordinance Committee, Committee on Public Safety.
Those meetings this week are going to be dealing with the FLOC issue exclusively.
And the end result may be an ordinance passed that says that FLOC cameras aren't to be used in New Bedford.
And it'll be interesting to see what the language is that comes out on those.
Because is the language going to be no FLOC at all?
Or is the language going to be the New Bedford Police Department can't use these cameras?
Because if the language is they can't use it at all.
Well, what do you do if there's any businesses that have contracted with FLOC?
I don't know if there are in New Bedford.
But I didn't even know this was a thing until the Dartmouth police chief pointed it out last week.
And I was in Dartmouth yesterday and I went to the lowest parking lot.
And saw the FLOC cameras, what appear to be FLOC cameras.
There's certainly some sort of ALPR camera.
It's not like they have the company name on them that I can see anywhere.
But they look like the FLOC cameras that you've seen in other places.
And if that's the case, and the police chief said that they're FLOC cameras.
So if that's the case, how do you stop private businesses from being able to contract with FLOC if they so choose?
And if you are going to ban them and they have done that.
What happens if they have to cancel that contract and they're on the hook to pay for the balance?
They can come back to you and say we had every intention of fulfilling this contract.
You're the reason why we can't.
Therefore, you, the city, can pay our bill.
Again, it may be a moot point.
There may not be anybody who has privately contracted with FLOC in New Bedford.
But the fact that somebody has in Dartmouth makes me think that it could be a possibility.
508-996-0500.
We'll be back in a few moments.
If I can move this mouse. There we go.

Starting your day the right way with the Tim Weisberg Show.
Mornings on WBSM.
And welcome back.
And I also want to say hello to the guy who came up and said hi to me
when I was at that free show at First Light Casino on Friday night.
Because if you remember a couple weeks ago,
I talked about the gentleman that came up to me in savers
and he had found a WBSM hat for sale.
He's like, here, you should get first crack at this.
Well, he was also at that show.
So it was great to talk with him.
And he was laughing at the fact that I brought it up on the air.
But, hey, listen, if you see WBSM gear out there, grab it, right?
We do have the ability on our website.
We have a shop there.
If you want to get a WBSM T-shirt, you can.
We have them for sale there.
But we haven't updated that in a long time.
So maybe we should have to come up with some new designs and some new ideas.
But if you just want to get a basic WBSM T-shirt or a hat or a mouse pad
or whatever else it is that they offer up on that site,
you can get that at WBSM.com.
Just click.
When you go to the website, just click on more at the top
and then go down to the WBSM shop.
So you can get stickers.
You can get T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies.
You can get a onesie for a baby.
Because if you really want to corrupt a baby at a young age,
throw a WBSM onesie on them.
But, yeah, that exists just in case you were ever wondering.
If you see people walking around and they have a WBSM T-shirt
and they don't work at the station, you're like, how'd they get that?
Well, you can get it for yourself.
But then if you wear it and we see you somewhere, we might put you to work too.
So keep that in mind.
Hey, can you help us set up this tent?
And maybe you'll get one of those T-shirts and you'll wear it
if you want to take part in the Nicole Podkala 5K coming up next month.
I'm going to be walking it.
Again, walking it.
I don't run, but if you want to run, you certainly can.
And you can join my team.
And what they've said recently, and I'll get more information for you on this
because I don't have it in front of me right now,
but they've set up a dedicated team village area over near the facility.
So this happens outside the cancer center here in Fairhaven off Mill Road.
And they've set up a specific village area, team village,
so that people who have teams will have a space to get together
and gather together and be able to kind of coordinate before the race starts.
So if you do want to join my team, the One Bean team, you can do that.
And you don't have to walk with me.
You don't have to keep pace with me.
If you're faster, if you're slower, that's fine.
It's just a fundraising team.
We all work together to raise as much money as we can
to help these families as they battle cancer.
So unlike other funds, you know,
the Pod Cala 5K isn't about paying for their medical treatment.
It's about all the other things that happen when you are dealing with cancer,
like when you're out of work and you still need to pay the bills,
when families need to travel with you for your treatment
and they need a place to stay, things like that.
So I've been glad to have been part of it for the last couple of years
because South Coast Health saved my life when it came to cancer,
and I know they've done the same for many, many more.
So this is a way to help give back.
All right, let's go to the news.
When we come back on the other side of the news,
today's edition of the Gen X Files.

The race for the U.S. Senate seat held by Jeanine Chenine
is getting most attention, with Democratic Congressman Chris Pappas
emerging as the Democratic frontrunner,
while on the Republican side, John E. Sununu

Canada is hitting back with new tariffs
on billions of dollars in American goods,
escalating the trade fight with the U.S.
The tariffs took effect at midnight
and ranged from 15 to 50 percent,
covering about $27 billion in U.S. imports.
They target products including steel, dairy, appliances,
farm equipment, electronics, and paper products.
Canada says the tariffs are in response
to the 50 percent duties imposed by President Trump on Canadian goods.
The move comes as tensions between Trump
and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney
continue to rise, with trade talks stalled.
New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani
says he will attend Friday's 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony
despite growing criticism.
A petition circulated by some 9-11 victims
urging Mamdani to reconsider has drawn 100,000 signatures.
I'm proud to be the mayor of this city.
I love this city. I love this country.
Mamdani responded yesterday at the West Indian Day Parade.
To call for him to skip the ceremony,
Rudy Giuliani was mayor when the Twin Towers fell
and says Mamdani should stay away,
accusing him of being too tolerant of radical Islam.
Other elected New York City officials
showed their support, with Senator Chuck Schumer
saying Mamdani should certainly attend
and State Attorney General James Noting.
As far as 9-11 is concerned,
he says he represents the city of New York.
Governor Kathy Hochul told reporters,

all of these things that are so important.
The Cleveland Clinic study also shows

and 44% say they have compared their body and overall health.

Monique Harris caught the two-month-old
as she was slipping from her exhausted mother's lap
midair last week on a United flight

Harris, who was in her 50s, not only had quick reflexes,
but lots of empathy letting the new mom nap
while she held the baby.
During the flight, another United passenger
shot video of the incident,
uploading it to social media, and it went viral.
Harris is getting a lot of praise,
and United is getting a lot of suggestions
saying that she deserves a pay raise.
A new study estimates that 45% of dementia cases

Although aging and genetics are risk factors
for declining cognitive health,
brain experts say they don't have to predict your future.
Researchers say the key to improved brain health
is addressing modifiable risk factors
like smoking, excessive alcohol use,
obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension,
and high LDL cholesterol.
Cutting down salt and sugar
and eating more vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein
are also helpful as is exercise.
The goal is to keep your heart healthy

NFL owners apparently remain pleased
with how the league is being run.
Commissioner Roger Goodell has agreed

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft
sent in a memo sent to teams
that more than 95% of the total compensation

and at the discretion of the compensation committee.
Goodell will have served as NFL commissioner
for 24 years at the end of this newest deal.

is that they like to consider themselves a restaurant first.
It is about the food there, first and foremost.
The games and the good time and all that
are just to add to the experience.
But the food is something that Phil and the team over there
take the utmost pride in.
And if you are looking for some Asian fusion type items,
if you're looking for some, I don't want to call it pub fare
because it's elevated beyond that, but it really is,
it's the kind of things that you would expect to find,
pizza, smash burgers, fries, nachos,
but everything has its own twist
because they want everything at Rewind
to be something unique and different.
And I will say, hands down, the best crab Rangoon dip
I've ever had in my life is at Rewind,
but everything I've had there is so great.
But it's the attention to detail too
that makes all the difference.
First of all, everything has fun 80s and 90s throwback names,
but yes, they could just give you a burger and fries
like any other place, but they give you a burger
and Tetris shaped fries.
There's always just a little something extra at Rewind
that makes the trip even more fun.
So yes, think about them for food
before you even think about things like games or drinks,
but what really sets them apart is that experience,
that being able to go there and have those throwback vibes
to feel like you've stepped into a time machine
while also enjoying great food.
So put them on your list of places to check out
if you haven't been there yet.
Make sure you tell them that you heard about it on WBSN.
Say, I listen every morning to that guy
that can't stop talking about the 80s and 90s,
to that guy who can't stop talking about Gen X,
and he said I needed to come here and try this place out,
and you will not be sorry.
It is the good time that you're looking for.
It is the throwback experience that you're looking for.
It's the nostalgia hit that you're looking for.

Mom, can you tell me a story?
Sure.
Once upon a time, a mom needed a new car.
Was she brave?
She was tired, mostly,
but she went to carvana.com
and found a great car at a great price,
no secret treasure map required.
Did she have to fight a dragon?
Nope, she bought it 100% online,
from her bed, actually.
Was it scary?
Honey, it was as unscary as car buying could be.
Did the car have a sunroof?
It did, actually.
Okay, good story.

And also, it was the first weekend of King Richard's Fair
for the 2026 season.
If you didn't get a chance to see the article on Friday,
we have an article at WBSM.com and on the WBSM app
with all the things that are new at King Richard's Fair this year.
I got a chance to go on Friday.
They had the media day where they have members of the media
and some invited guests.
And I'll be honest, I didn't see a lot of media there this year.
Last year, of course, it was the first year at the Eatonville site,
so that's going to bring out a lot of people.
But I was expecting to see more of the Boston folks,
expecting to see more of the Providence folks.
But I think what happened was they changed the day
because it was going to rain.
It was originally supposed to be Thursday,
and the rain had it rescheduled.
So maybe that's why you didn't see as much television coverage.
Although I did see that the King and Queen, Queen Anne and King Richard,
were making the rounds, and it appeared on a few TV stations promoting it.
But that was fine by me because that meant we had them all to ourselves.
The King and Queen gave us a tour of everything that was new
and talked with us about some of the new food, the new shows,
and it really does seem like they're settling into that Eatonville site now.
So last year, they were still constructing some of the structures
when we got there for the media tour,
like the day before they were going to open for the season.
And now that they've had a year to really get everything up and running
and build all these new things, now I can see it.
Now I see the vision that somebody had when they moved to the site
to say, here's what we can do.
And it really is turning into quite the village over there now.
And I'm still sad that Eatonville has changed,
but I'm glad to see that now King Richard's Fair
has a much more permanent home that is more accessible to folks.
I have a friend who goes every year who got into an accident
and just happens to be in a wheelchair currently.
And he's doing better, but he's in a wheelchair now
until he makes a full recovery.
And he's able to go and continue his streak of going every year
because it is much more accessible now.
There's no dirt paths and routes that would keep him
from being able to get his chair through.
So let's take a call here, 508-996-0500.
Good morning, you're on WBSN.
Good morning, Tim.
Good morning.
I was watching the Food Network channel last night
and all the commercials were showing a haunted house
that was going to be renovated somewhere.
I don't know where it is.
It's going to be on TV, though.
And they're going to be staying there while they're renovating?
Oh, yeah.
That's a new series they have coming out.
Oh, is it?
I don't know.
I just saw it last night.
It kept on coming on.
I think it's the 15th they're going to show it.
I'm not sure.
I didn't catch the date.
I think September 15th they're going to start when they start.
I think it was a woman in the background saying,
I get to stay here while they're doing it.
I mean, when you start doing construction,
that's what stirs stuff up.
Yeah, I know.
I know.
That's going to be good.
What is it, GBH?
I'm not sure.
Yeah, I saw something about it floating around social media,
but I didn't pay much attention to it.
I haven't watched any of those shows in a while.
Oh, you haven't?
I thought when I saw that I was going to give them a call
and tell them.
I thought maybe you were going to be there.
They actually haven't had any paranormal TV shows
for a couple of years.
All the ones that have been on have mostly just been reruns.
There's a few that still produce new episodes,
like was it Paranormal Caught on Camera?
They'll still produce new episodes,
but in terms of the investigation shows,
those have dried up.
So now it seems like they're starting to invest
a little bit more money in putting them back on the air.
Yeah, this should be a good one.
I don't know.
Where is it?
Do you know?
I have no idea.
I haven't paid much attention to it.
Well, stop paying attention, will you?
To be honest with you,
the paranormal world has me more and more aggravated,
so I try to avoid it.
Oh, does it really?
Although I'll be at Cryptid Fest 3
coming up this Sunday in Rainham, Taunton.
I'll have more information about that for you.
But yeah, I'm going to be out there
meeting people and selling some books.
Oh, great.
All right.
Give me a good day.
You as well.
Bye-bye.
All right.
508-996-0500.
I've got to get a break in here.
My final one of the hour.
Be right back.
Emily.
All right.
Hey, listen.
It might be the time of year

you should also be considering
