Video Summary
AI GeneratedHillary Clinton underwent a seven-hour deposition regarding the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, denying any personal relationship with him. Meanwhile, Democrats are pressuring Donald Trump to testify following reports of missing FBI documents concerning assault allegations. Former President Bill Clinton is also scheduled for a deposition due to his documented links to Epstein.
Returning overseas now, the former first lady of the United States, Hillary Clinton, has submitted
two hours of questioning in a landmark deposition on the investigation related to the late convicted
sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Our correspondent Rachel Clayton has been following developments
from Washington and she joins me now. Hi there, Rachel. So we've just heard from Hillary Clinton.
Take us through what she had to say. That's right. She was put through about seven hours
of questioning and she came out about 10 minutes ago to give a summary of what
she was asked inside that deposition. She's been adamant from the start that she wanted
that deposition to be public. She wanted journalists to be in the room. That wasn't
allowed. So she did give a quick summary of what occurred. She said it was very long
and very repetitive. She was clearly unhappy with the line of questioning that she got from
Republicans. And this is a little of what she had to say about the specific questions
that she got throughout those seven hours. I don't know how many times I had to say I did
not know Jeffrey Epstein. I never went to his island. I never went to his homes. I never went
to his offices. So it's on the record numerous times. It then got at the end quite unusual
because I started being asked about UFOs and a series of questions about Pizzagate,
one of the most vile, bogus conspiracy theories that was propagated on the internet.
There seems to be a lot of questions that were asked that were off topic and had nothing to do
with Jeffrey Epstein because Hillary Clinton also praised the Republican head of the House
Committee, Comer, for asking some very specific questions about the Russian involvement in the
2016 election. But all in all, when it came to the questions she was asked about the Epstein
investigation, she said it was not productive. She did say that the video and the transcript
of what went on inside the room was going to be released soon but couldn't give us
a timeline or when that will be released. Rachel, there are also now mounting calls for
US President Donald Trump to also testify. Tell us a bit more about that.
There's been calls for a while now for President Trump to testify but it's really intensified
today after reports were verified by Robert Garcia, one of the Democrats on the House Committee, that
the Department of Justice had held back specific documents from the tranche of documents published
in the Epstein files. These relate to an FBI investigation that occurred in 2019 when a woman
came forward and alleged that Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein had sexually assaulted her when
she was a minor in the 1980s. There are about three memos, summaries, of the investigation
the FBI was undertaking after she made those allegations. Those are supposed to be in the
files. They're not there. The Democrats are now really calling for those to be published
and are using that to really put pressure on President Donald Trump to be questioned by
Congress. This is a bit of what Democrat Robert Garcia had to say on that.
This committee has now set a new precedent about talking to presidents and former presidents and
we're demanding immediately that we ask President Trump to testify in front of our committee and be
imposed in front of oversight Republicans and Democrats and that should happen immediately.
He is the person that appears almost more than anyone else in the committee.
As well as waiting for the transcripts of today and the video of today to come out,
attention is quickly going to turn to the deposition that's going on tomorrow and that
is of former President Bill Clinton. We know that he's been named in the files. He had financial
links with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. There's no evidence wrongdoing on Bill Clinton's
part but he has been in photographs at Jeffrey Epstein's homes in the city and he's been
photographed alongside Ghislaine Maxwell. So his deposition is going to be very lengthy and he will
be the first president, first former president I should say, since 1983 to be interrogated by
Congress. All right, Rachel Clayton in Washington DC there. Thank you.
