Fatal officer-involved shooting in Garland forces closure of Broadway Boulevard

A deadly police shooting in Garland has parts of a busy road closed this morning. Fox 4's Ticia Mozinga is at the scene at Broadway Boulevard near Centerville Road. She has the latest on this breaking news. Ticia? Hey, good morning, guys. And speaking of Broadway Boulevard, if you're traveling northbound or trying to travel northbound and southbound, you will be diverted to this shopping center here, Country Club Square. But right behind me, you can see the scene right now because all the roads is closed. I mean, traffic is not too impacted because of the holiday. But again, information is pretty limited right now. But here's what we know so far. This shooting happened sometime early this morning. It's unclear what led up to the shooting, but Garland police say that the suspect is dead. No officers were hurt in this incident. All north and southbound lanes, once again, of Broadway Boulevard will be closed until further notice. Now, people are being asked to avoid the area. They're also being, as I mentioned, they're being diverted to Country Club Square to get around this area. But just a heads up, though, in less than an hour, the Labor Day parade will kick off nearby at the Granville Arts Center, not too far from here, about four miles. So traffic doesn't seem to be too impacted in that area. But, you know, families who plan to attend should be mindful. So, again, we are still working to gather more information regarding this officer-involved shooting. One suspect is dead. The subject is dead. And once we get more information and once that information comes available, we'll be sure to update people on air and online at Fox4News.com. I'll send it back to you guys. Yeah, a lot of evidence markers behind Tizia and that live shot. Tizia, thanks for that update.
