'Hanuman Ansh': Another independent film wins hearts

In one of the most remarkable box office turnaround stories in recent Indian cinematic history, the devotional drama Hanuman Ansh has emerged as a monstrous blockbuster helmed by writer-director Vishal Chaturvedi. The movie chronicles the formative spiritual years of Neem Karoli Baba. The film concluded its 31st day in theatres with a massive domestic gross exceeding Milestone caps an extraordinary theatrical trajectory powered almost entirely by organic word-of-mouth. Fronted by Shobhino Satya and Chandan Anand, Hanuman Ansh originally debuted to a muted start, scraping together roughly 40 lakh rupees in its opening week. However, strong viewer resonance in northern and western India, particularly in Delhi NCR, spurred exponential week-on-week gains. By its fourth and its fifth weekend, screen counts and show occupancy surged dramatically, allowing the low-budget biographical production to hold firm and even outpace big-ticket tentpoles. It is now one of the top-earning Indian movies in theatres. The movie has also garnered appreciation from well-known stars from the film industry. National Award winning director Aditya Dhar admired the movie in his social media stories. On his social media stories again, actor Varun Dhawan admired the film and recommended it to his followers.
