Envoy Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
in Kyiv today.
This comes after Whitkoff and Kushner met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow
yesterday, all part of an effort to revive peace talks between the warring nations.
President Trump always says the harder it is, it's worthy.
You have to give it everything you have.
And so he's very determined to see the end of this war, to see the end of the deaths,
to see the relief of the families, and to hopefully do what he loves doing the best,
which is focusing on investing in business opportunities for the countries to become
closer together.
And only then brings prosperity and opportunity to the people of Ukraine and the people of
Europe.
Stephanie Bennett, live in London with the latest.
Hey, Stephanie.
Hey, Kevin.
Well, Whitkoff and Kushner say they feel good about these peace talks that they've had in
both Kyiv and Moscow, and they're hoping to push towards trilateral talks in the future.
I would say that we've had a very meaningful discussion, substantive, important, and we're
very encouraged.
And we look forward to continuing this day as long as it takes, not just to figure out
how do we end the current war, but how do we create the right conditions and arrangements
for a long-term, durable peace.
U.S. envoys Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv by train, marking their first
official visit as part of a renewed push for peace.
Kushner said President Trump has tasked them with creating a peace package and will do
everything they can to end this war for good.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said the war must end on fair terms.
We want there to be no war, no suffering, no people dying, so this war ends on fair
terms with a fair peace for us all.
On Saturday, Whitkoff and Kushner met with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, a meeting
that lasted more than three hours.
It was described as substantive, constructive, and extremely frank.
Russia said they've made significant advances in the combat zone and expressed confidence
in achieving its goals.
Putin and Zelensky agreed to pause strikes during this weekend's talks, but both sides
carried on anyway, intercepting dozens of drones overnight.
Ukrainians have mixed reactions over these leadership meetings.
The issue can be solved in the blink of an eye.
We want peace.
I've fought myself, so I know what war is like.
We need peace, because there's no other way.
And Zelensky said leaders, well actually that was representatives from France, Germany,
and the UK were also in attendance at today's meetings in Ukraine.
He says it's important to work with all those to end this war.
Back to you, Kevin.
Substantive, constructive, and extremely frank.
Stephanie Bennett, thank you as always, appreciate that.
