But the forecast wise, we're watching all across the state. We've got a lot
of games on the docket today and look at your football forecast. Texas Tech
and Abilene Christian, a Lone Star State showdown there at six o'clock
tonight. Temperature wise this afternoon, they'll be in the upper
nineties. Austin. Same story taking on Texas State. Of course, I've got my eyes
in the Brazos Valley College Station, Aggieland, Texas A&M taking on Missouri
State low in chance for showers there. Same story out east of Nacogdoches for
S. F. A. S. Game keeping eyes on radar for them. And then again, a lot of
north texas teams on the road. U. N. T. Obviously in Bloomington also low in
chance for rain. Some cooler temperatures there. Baylor not as lucky
down in Atlanta. It's 95 and humid and then bowling green. We've got Tarleton
72 degrees. That's the best temperature for our north texas teams today. Look
at satellite and radar. You can see some of that activity already underway
across parts of the Midwest, stretching into the northeast and then a little
bit closer to home there. Some seabreeze showers trying to make their
way toward the Brazos Valley again, watching for that low in chance for
rain through six o'clock. That's kickoff tonight and college station.
And then we're watching for those seabreeze showers to try to move into
north texas. So as these continue to push along the sea breeze, I'm
watching mostly our eastern and southeastern most counties today. But
you can see future cast telling us and not a whole lot of coverage. Most of us
are going to stay dry, which is probably not a surprise for most of us
today. I'm leaving a 10% chance through sunset tonight. Once we get the sun to
set, we'll lose a lot of the heat of the day. We'll lose a lot of the energy
and then we'll lose any rain that did manage to pop up even with the low in
chance of rain. Obviously it's not a drought, denting drought, busting
rainfall. And this is the latest monitor that we had released on thursday and
shows you now stage two severe drought staking its claim across a good part of
north texas. That's all the deeper oranges that you see there. It's
surrounded by moderate stage one drought. And then as you move back to
the south and west, it's abnormally dry conditions on their way to becoming
drought. As we get into this next week, I don't have a whole lot of rain of
the forecast. So I imagine next thursday we get even more colorful. Now
one thing that we look to a lot to try to fuel at least summertime showers,
its development in the tropics and we have no chance of that in the next
seven days. According to the National Hurricane Center, obviously edward was
the one kind of glimmer of hope for us to find some showers in some north
texas did. Many, many did miss out, including D. F. W. So looking to the
Atlantic and the gulf, unfortunately not gonna do much for us this week. The
good news is, hey, that means your Labor Day weekend forecast is good to
go in terms of heading out to the lake or the pool. You're heading outside for
plans. Your biggest concern is the heat here. 100 degrees today and tomorrow
I've got to set one on one for your Labor Day holiday gets just a little
bit warmer and it gets muggier as well. We'll be watching for the potential for
some heat advisories to be needed in the coming days for north texas today.
It's mostly to the north and east. So starting at Fannin County and then
building off to the east toward the Arklatex part of the state and then a
little bit further south delta Lamar County is included in that for heat
index values up to 105. Now look ahead to the next five days. Temperature wise
I'm keeping us in the triple digits, but it will be close today and tomorrow
many will top out in the upper nineties. But when you factor in the
humidity, which again is a factor in the forecast, it will feel like the
triple digits for everybody. We get to 101 again monday into Tuesday. You'll
notice there's not a whole lot of variability in my afternoon highs.
There's also not a whole lot of change in the morning lows because it's a
stagnant weather pattern. High pressure sets up overhead. We get persistent
southeast winds though. So you will see those dew points start to tick up in
terms of resulting in rainfall. Not so much for frame of reference. Our
average high this time of year is 92 degrees. So needless to say, we are
running way above average for this time of year and a look ahead of your
seven day forecast. We'll just keep that trend going. 10% chance of rain
today. I'll keep eyes on a similar story tomorrow though. I think even
fewer of us find us drop here and there and then we get your Labor Day holiday
nice and dry 101 100. That's all I've got. 79 80. That's about how we'll
start each day again looking for humidity to start to creep up. So
keeping eyes on the potential for heat advisories to be needed as we head for
next week.
