AI GeneratedThe 2025 Tesla Model Y Performance is presented as a highly practical and powerful all-rounder. It blends rapid acceleration and a user-friendly tech ecosystem with significant cargo versatility, making it a superior alternative to the Model 3 for those needing more space. The reviewer particularly recommends exploring the used market for the best value.
This is a 2025 Tesla Model Y, specifically the Model Y Performance. Now the Model Y is the
best-selling EV in the world right now and it's easy to see why. It's ease of use in terms of its
user experience, it's massive performance and decent value mean that it's a great proposition
for many car buyers. And now these are coming down in price as a used buy, now is the best time ever
to look at getting one. And if you're looking at getting one of these then the best way to do it
is to check out my affiliates Players Cars Premium in the description below because they make the
car buying process so, so easy. What to do is contact them, let them know exactly what you want.
They are a Tesla specialist and they sell tons of these Model Ys from as low as £360 a month with
a couple of grand down. And with Players Cars Premium there's no need for pesky emails waiting

So then the Model Y Performance, this one is finished in cherry metallic which isn't popping
quite right now because it's not in the sun but this really comes up like a nice sort of metallic
burgundy, red, purple, really nice colour but as you can see nice and subdued in dimmer lighting
as well with the white optional interior which I think really looks the part. I think this is the
perfect spec for a Model Y Performance and as you can see very similar front end to the Model 3.
Some people say the Model Y is a bit ugly and bulbous. I can sort of understand that and see
that because it's kind of the same front end as the Model 3, the kind of the older generation one
but on stilts so it does look a little bit odd from certain angles but you do get used to it
and like I said in this spec I think it really does look the part. This Performance one comes with
these massive wheels as standard so you can see there and also these big upgraded brakes behind
there. So these are 21s and they have Pirelli P Zeros on from factory which is a nice touch.
You can see that nice pillarless glass there, acoustic panelling on there and tinted rear and
at the back we do have this lovely carbon lip spoiler as well which does make a difference.
You can kind of see that sitting out there and not much else to differentiate this from the
standard Model Y. It is pretty much just the kind of the spoiler and the wheels that are the dead
giveaways on this one. It's a little bit more subdued I guess than the Model 3 but what do
you think about the styling? I think this is the perfect spec for one of these. I definitely think
that the newer model in the Performance guise looks a little bit better but this considering
you can get these now for so cheap is pretty good. Now the Performance one that I have here is 0-60
in around three and a half seconds and a range of around 300 miles across the board for the
Model Y. So not too bad. Obviously the Tesla supercharger network is absolutely fantastic,
one of the best in the world. You don't have to worry about all of that charging rubbish when
you're going to different stations and you've got different apps and stuff. The Tesla network just
works a little bit better. It's kind of like an SUV crossover type shape. It's got the height,
it's got a little bit of width, it's got the sort of a slight ride height on it but it's also not
massive like a Range Rover. Even your standard Model Ys are 2022 and onwards so they do have
the newer AMD processors in the infotainment system so you don't really have to worry about
what year you're getting unlike with a Model 3 where certain earlier ones aren't quite as good
in terms of spec. This one pretty much comes with everything you don't really need to worry about it
you just need to worry about whether you want the longer range one or whether you want the
Performance model. Even the standard ones are sort of the sort of four to five second 0-60 times so
they're not slow by any stretch of the imagination. So let's head inside it is openable with a key
card which you tap on the door here or you can use the Tesla app and then we can get ourselves
inside by holding the door handle and opening just like that. And with the door open you see that we
do have your nice suede material on the side here and your standard switches with your electronic
door release and in this one with the white interior you get this kind of white ceramic
looking panelling instead of the wood which is a nice touch. On the Model 3 Performance the newer
ones and the Model Y Performance you do get carbon trim but in this one you don't. Nice size doorbin
with a pocket for your bottle and a nice big step into the car you can see how high the seat is
it means it's got quite a nice seating position in here and these seats are just stunning. I've
got these in my Model 3 as well and you can also see how much that pan roof helps out. It's slightly
different to the Model 3 because the Model 3 has like a beam that goes across the middle this one
the beam is right across the back so you get more of an sort of open plan look to the to the roof
which is really cool. So yeah really minimalist some people love it some people hate it but let's
hop in and have a closer look. So I'm sure you've probably seen a million videos on Teslas and what
their interiors are like but they are super minimalistic this one has a third party cover
on the armrest this is normally black but this has a cover on it and in here you do have a little bit
of storage again you've got some accessories in here as well so there's a third party cup holder
thing built in here and this just helps grip the cups a little bit better because the standard
ones aren't particularly great and you've got some storage in here so again you've got like some
third party bits that the owner has added in order to kind of organize this a little bit better and
it's nice that those accessories are readily available. You do have also the two wireless
charging bays and then your standard infotainment screen so this does everything from opening all
the stuff you can go in and you can customize all of your dynamics and controls your charging you
can have like creep turned on change the steering way also change the acceleration and there is a
track mode on here because it's the performance model and this allows you to go into like a drift
preset and go full up rear wheel drive and stuff which is really really cool and then you'd also
have your options for charging autopilot and all that kind of thing but the infotainment system i
would say is one of the best on the market personally i don't miss apple carplay and android
also which this doesn't have this is really simple to use and by going into here and going into
you know going to apple music you've got like a basically a desktop app version it really works
super well and then if i open the maps you know the maps work super well as well it's just a
really straightforward system and you've got all your supercharger information on here which tells
you exactly what's in use and that kind of stuff like it just works so so well and honestly it's
one of the best systems on the market i would say even the fact that there is no physical climate
controls i normally moan about that but tesla's implementation is really good i just normally set
it and forget it and you can set shortcuts on the steering wheel and stuff as well so in this one you
do have the stalk still because it's a slightly older model so when you indicate you get the
blind spot cameras coming up which is a nice touch it makes it super easy to maneuver the car and
then on the right hand side you have your gear select so reverse neutral drive and if you hold
down you go into the autopilot mode you also do have some steering wheel control so you get one
for voice control and a programmable one and one that does media skip and stuff so a little bit
basic the newer system is a little bit more comprehensive like the newer tesla steering
wheels have more shortcut buttons and things like that but a lot of them do lose the stalk so
this is this is fine for me i think and you do get loads of headroom as well in here and you've got
the kind of magnetic sun visors here with the little pull down flaps nice little touch and
your hazard switch is up here which i do find annoying but it's what it is and visibility out
the back you do have a massive c pillar you can probably see that about there but with all the
cameras on this car it really isn't an issue like if i put the car into reverse you'll see that the
cameras pop up and it's a really comprehensive view it's a it's a great system and you can see
also on the right hand side here in that mode we do get a bit of a top down view it uses cameras
to kind of map what the spaces look like it's not as good as having a 360 cam in my opinion it does
the trick like it's not the best but it works and i can't really complain about the functionality of
it but yeah just have a little look at all the space in here it's a really really nice layout
and that pan roof makes such a difference it's tinted as well for uv protection so it doesn't
get too hot in here and the white i think makes such a difference the contrast is really nice and
of course you do get used to not having a display here because you get all of your information your
speedo in this corner you do honestly adjust to that a lot quicker than you might imagine and yeah
i just love this system the fact that it's even got stuff like your theater mode so you've got
netflix on there and you've also got the toy box and toy box has like all different games in it
you've got arcade so you've even got stuff like romance mode which will play some spicy music and
put a big fireplace on the screen it's got sketch pads that you can draw on here loads and loads of
cool gimmicks built in for the people to play around with and then stepping into the back there's
a massive amount of space back here as well i'll demonstrate by getting in in just a moment but
these seats do fold down to give you a bigger cargo area and you have a completely flat floor
here with loads of space under the rear seats as well as well as some usbc charging and ventilation
back here and lots lots of space you can probably hear actually echoes in here there's so much space
there's some pull-out hooks and a little light these feel really expensive as well it's a really
nice touch and you do have isofix points built in as well unfortunately they are the kind that
are squidged between the seats they probably will damage the leather over time but it's nice that
they are there included this is where the model y really comes into its own compared to the model
3 i did a review of a model 3 performance earlier today and the headroom was significantly less
back here for me but still practical but what is good is this is in my driving position at six foot
and i've still got tons of room i can stretch out almost completely back here you can see how far my
legs are extended under that seat because there's such a big amount of space between the seat and
the floor and also there's a big center area too like there's loads and loads of room back here
you do have a small armrest as well which i can pull down it's not quite the same as the model
3 where you have that kind of middle seat that comes away it's slightly different but it does
feel really nice you do get an easy position back here i could spend loads of time back here a really
long journey would be absolutely fine this is a much better space than the model 3 in terms of
your leg support and just overall rear leg room if you're going to have adult rear passengers quite
frequently or if you're carrying a few kids around and you want them to have a bit more space the y
is definitely a lot more practical than the 3 in that regard and really anything in this class is
probably going to be similar back here but just the way this is laid out means that i can get
so so comfortable and the real benefit of the model y is the extra cargo area not only is it
massive improvement in terms of the rear space but also look at this massive opening here this
is very similar to what you'll find in the back of like an ev6 for example this parcel shelf is
quite interesting as well it kind of lifts and folds and goes away like that and then you can
pull the whole thing out as well which is interesting and just look at all this space
i've left some stuff in here got some owner's stuff and also my camera bag just to give you
an idea of how cavernous this space is and if we go into the back we can also pull down these rear
seats for some additional space as well and these do go completely flat as you can see so i'll head
around the other side and do the same again just so you can see how easy it is to extend this area
those go nice and flat nice and easy you can also release those from here but unfortunately they
don't bring them back up which is a bit of a shame but you can't ask for everything but look at how
big that space is i know we've got some stuff in here at the moment but it just goes to show the
level of space that you do have in versatility you don't have that same restrictive area as in
a model 3 this is more like your typical suv space with a nice flat load area and then nice and simple
to pop these seats back up into position as well these rear seats do also have a level of recline
so you'll see that in just a moment so this is their kind of most upright position but if i
press that and push that back you can see now compared to that seat you do have a few different
levels that you can choose from i recommend having it in the most laid-back setting just means that
you can stretch out that a little bit more you do have a significant amount of underfloor storage
as well so you can pop your charging cables and other accessories in there and the good thing
about that space is that if you then want to put a slightly taller item in there you can because it
will just fit in that well and that panel is removable you can just move that along and with
that secured back in with the magnets the next thing to check out is the frunk so if we head
into the car there is an option to open it on the screen so we'll be able to just hit the open bonnet
function and it goes pop so you can see you do have some additional space in the front area there
it's kind of like a bit of a deep well it's a bit bigger than the model 3 and it's also kind of
waterproof you can easily clean it out so you can dump dirty sort of boots and stuff in there if you
need to and a nice easy access to your washer fluid refill so with all that said and done then
let's close her up i want to actually take this thing out on the road and see exactly what it's
like in comparison to the model 3 and whether you should pick one of these up as your next daily
driver so out in the model y performance you can you can really feel that torque when you head off
the line and uh it's a big car don't get me wrong it's obviously a heavy car but it does hide its
weight fairly well and i do feel like it feels like a more premium experience than a model 3
just because you're up that little bit higher chucking it into a roundabout there is definite
whiffs of body roll but not as much as you might expect um it just doesn't quite come off the
throttle and pull into the corner as quick as a model 3 would especially a model 3 performance
um and that's something that obviously is accentuated a little bit in the slightly less
hot variant as well and this being the performance it is kind of a bit more hunkered down a little
bit more firm so if you want something a little bit kind of more planted and more agile then a
model 3 performance is certainly going to be the way to go but you missed out on a lot of
practicality in a model 3 i mean you can probably just hear in my voice or my microphone that
there's a little bit of echo in here just because of the sheer amount of space and how spacious it
feels it's really good and not only that but it just feels more of a nice experience cruising
along in it because it's that much larger it's that much more plush so i think the trade-offs
are probably worth it because real world usable performance even a standard model y is more than
quick enough it's probably quicker than the car you're replacing it with let's be honest so
the best bit about the model y in my opinion is just the user experience i'm a bit of a tesla
convert really like i never really liked the idea of getting one and then all of a sudden i was
thrust into it and ended up being the best decision i made really because i do actually
think the interface and the design of how everything works that the app the ease of use
being able to walk up to it and it just unlocks automatically obviously being able to like set
the climate control the tesla supercharger network is unlike anything else because it's
worldwide you know you could go all through europe or through the states on the tesla
supercharger network and it's just super easy to do you just plug it in and it accepts the
charge through your app and charges you automatically to your debit card or credit
card you don't have to worry about logging into something or downloading something or
pre-approving a credit card nothing like that it's just it's just easy and that is all stuff
that i would greatly miss if i was to drive another ev day to day i think tesla just nailed
that and it's also the day-to-day element of the one pedal drive i think one pedal drive
implementation is tesla's strongest point it is truly so easy to get used to and once you've used
it for a while even other electric cars feel a little bit clunky in comparison and this has all
the performance you would ever need like that is ridiculous the amount of talk that this thing has
and it sounds like a spaceship when it takes off it's like having a jet engine strapped to you it's
just like whoa there we go and just off it goes and yet it's a super serene and nice experience
as well and this is where electric cars really come into their own because it's such usable real
world performance you don't have to worry about never being able to use all the horsepower because
you can do it in short safe bursts and because it's so easy accessible like the prod of the
throttle it just almost warps you into another dimension as soon as you touch it it makes for
nice easy overtaking and it makes for such a quiet and serene experience as well i must admit i
have been in the new model white which is the successor to this one that i'm sat in and that
is more refined it feels more refined in the cabin you get a little bit less wind noise from
this front pillar you get a little bit less road noise from the acoustic glass and from the tires
as well but this is by no means a bad experience and the awesome sound system in here with two
subwoofers built in will mean that actually you probably don't even notice because you're too
listening to your tunes and whatever else is going on in the car and i'm cruising along now
at 70 mile an hour on the motorway and i can engage autopilot which isn't as good as their
newest system but it does get the trick done and it will steer you in lane and keep the correct
speed and the correct distance from the car in front of you it's fairly effortless although it
will require you to hold on to the wheel and make some micro adjustments because i don't believe it
has a capacitive sensor built in so you do need to kind of let it know that you're still in control
but the system works well it's just not quite as good as their autopilot 4 system which is on the
newer model y and model 3 even now at 60 if i give it so much torque and it's a bit subdued
in this car compared to a model 3 performance because obviously this has more weight it's got
a bit more body roll um you sit higher up so the effect is less prominent but most people will be
more than happy with the performance of a standard tesla model y and with around 300 miles of range
plus supercharging if you've got a charger at home it becomes a no-brainer you think about
how cheap these things are to run i mean i've got a model 3 long range which is about the same sort
of uh like wltp mileage about 300 and i probably pay about four pounds to charge it on off-peak
tariff overnight so four pound for 300 miles of travel that's a lot cheaper than a petrol car
isn't it or even a diesel like i say these are dime a dozen now as well it's so easy to get hold
of them this particular one obviously is the top end one it's really specced out but even your base
model with standard black interior black or white paint is still going to have all of the stuff that
this one has effectively because they don't really do option lists like you get all of the kit
included and that's the best thing about tesla you know what you're getting and what you're getting
is a super solid user experience and personally for me choosing between this and a model 3
it's quite tricky because the model 3 boot is actually massive like you can fit so much stuff
in there it's just not a wide space so it's not practical for all items because this one's a
hatchback it just has that little bit more but even at six foot i don't really find the model
three uncomfortable in any way i can get a good driving position in there so i think the only
reason i would go for one of these is if i wanted the slightly higher sort of ride height sort of
beefier look on the road and also more rear passenger space and more cargo area but aside
from that you'd be happy with either really the overtaking power is unreal but it's so comfortable
i love tesla seats as well like they're supportive in all the right places but they're plush enough
to really enjoy a long journey in i think the only things that come close in modern cars is
something like an ev6 i think the ev6 is an interesting alternative to this car i personally
would go for a tesla rather than an ev6 because i prefer the user experience in one of these but
if you were a bit anti tesla or you just wanted something a little bit different an ev6 is a great
option because it's a similar sort of size and you can get it with like the reclining seats that
are really plush as well so there's alternatives out there don't get me wrong it's just that
i think this is such a unique experience and such good value especially in the used market as i said
that you'd be hard to find something better really i was expecting more body roll as well
it's definitely not as planted as a model three or something with a bit of a lower center of gravity
but i think the suspension tweaks in this performance model do help with that sitting
in traffic in one of these teslas is just sublime like i'm using one pedal drive it's so easy to
gauge when to let off the throttle it's just so soothing i normally hate sitting in traffic but
when i'm driving one of these i just don't care that much because it's not it's not aggro and
you get nowhere near as much of the weird transition between regen braking and normal
braking as you do in other evs as well so that's a nice touch and when you're creeping along there's
no kind of like really sudden jolt in it's all very very smooth out let's give it some themes
here run this roundabout everything in the cabin is moving around including me it's such a great
car this i think the only complaint i have is the level of refinement and they really have
nailed that with the newer model it's just a shame that on these older ones you get a little bit too
much road noise but like i said just drown it out with some music it's it's pretty much the only
aside from that i absolutely love it so there we go guys the tesla model y i think probably one of
the best all-round cars that you can buy full stop especially on the used market if you're
looking for an ev so if you are looking for one as i mentioned contact elliot on the links
description below because he's going to be able to make it so much easier for you to find one and
this is actually his car by the way he's kindly let me borrow it today i bought one off him a
while ago and a few of my friends have bought cars off of him now and it's just been such a
experience that i teamed up with him to help bring you along with the journey with me so
there's been lots of you guys who have contacted me in the past and on my past videos and said
you know you've been in touch with elliot and he's managed to source you a car so it's obviously
working out so i'm proud to continue that partnership so thanks to elliot for not only
that but also for letting me borrow the car today i really do appreciate it thank you guys for
watching and i'll see you all in the next one bye bye oh and don't forget to subscribe
