This is my first look into matter hackers matter control 2.0 slicer, and man was I amazed. As you may know I have tried several green slicer software options, and you can see my likes and dislikes of each here on the channel. I thought the last slicer I reviewed might have been a cura killer, but after playing with matter control, everything else is a joke. This free slicer has so many options, and is super intuitive and easy to use. If you do a lot of printing and designing you owe it to yourself to try this free software. Not only does it slice, you can easily design or model something with the tinkercad-like primitives, or readily add text in a ton of fonts to any model. In this video I barely scratch the surface of the possibilities for this free slicer. Matter control 2.0 by matter hackers is a must have!

Hey guys, TechNiverse here. Today we're looking at MatterHacker's MatterControl 2.0. Now this is
another free slicer, although this is a lot more than just a slicer. So there's some pretty cool
tools in here you may want to check out. First and foremost are the primitive objects that you
can just drag and drop and add to an object that you load. So first we're going to load an object.
I'm going to open this guy here. It does take a second to load everything
and it's going to texture it and that's with the texture. You can change the material color here
but we don't need to do that. What I wanted to show you was that you can take
drag and drop primitives into here and build up your model. Now you can adjust these.
Okay, so if I print that it'll print with that additional round base there
or you can also do this which is pretty cool if you're looking to add text to stuff. You just go
over here. There are a bunch of different texts. Let's look at it from the top view.
Center this up a little bit. That's pretty for Hulk, huh? Lots of different options. So you can
do some pretty cool stuff there and that is pretty nifty. The other cool thing in here
is this. Now this is an image converter so right now it's converting the silhouette but if I go in
here or change image, let's grab something easy. So I'm going to grab one of these
subscribe buttons here. Let's grab this one. This little cleaner will open that up
and you get this sweet little subscribe button. Now that's pretty cool.
There are different settings for different types of images. You'll have to play around with it,
see what works best there, but if I wanted to say make a copy of my logo real quick,
it does it. It does it pretty well. Let's try one more. Let's try this. Well, I haven't tried it
yet. We'll see what happens. Okay, so it gives us a silhouette. It does give us the little label
there. You can't really read it. If we change to intensity, we'll get a different model and we can
actually go through them all. It looks like these are all pretty much the same which is interesting.
There are a lot of cool things you could do with this such as putting your own logo onto things.
There we go. This is not going to look the best but it'll give us a good idea of what the different
settings do. So that's intensity. Hue also works pretty well on this one.
Not the best. Silhouette works way better for two-color objects or even three-color objects.
So we don't have a ton of extra graphics in here but we can do this. That comes out pretty good.
And you can kind of just move it around the model and do what you want with it which is
really nice. So we're going to play around with this slicer a bit more but so far I'm enjoying
it. I'm going to check out some more tips and tricks. Right now we are in the design section
and still kind of checking some things. Lay flat works really well. Linear array.
That made multiple copies and I can actually increase the copies. Does take a second to
catch up but now there's five. You can do it in a curve as well. There are linear array, radial
array, advanced array, and then with this curve you can do a couple other editing things like
pinching and twisting the model which is pretty cool. So the other sweet thing in here. I need
to get rid of some of these. I don't think I need that many. That's fine. The other cool thing in
here is this panel right here. Now this has some different design apps. I'm not logged in right now
so but then it's got the history of what you've done in here, your library, and some downloads.
There are a lot of cool things in here. This is basically like a cross between I would say
Raise3D and Tinkercad and I'm going to continue to play around with this. It's been quite enjoyable
so far. So definitely check it out. It is free. It has the designer included. It has the slicer included
and pretty much everything you will need. Now I haven't set up my printer yet
and I haven't actually done a slicer so let's see. Ender 3 is in there. That's pretty nice.
You can manually configure or skip connection. We'll skip connection right now because I just
want to slice and save the file. 3D layer view. 2D layer view as well. Okay so I haven't sliced it yet.
So it's slicing. We're just doing this little ring here so we can check out the layer view.
See it build up. Right now it's got a skirt and that's pretty cool.
And it should have all the settings I need so now I could go to save as.
Oh that's going to save the design. Go to print. Oh we can adjust our print options here.
We can export the g-code here or we can connect a printer and just print straight from here.
Fill intensity, layer thickness, those are pretty standard. There are spiral mode in the advanced
options but this is pretty well super simplified. You can immediately add a layer to pause without
extra post script. That's nice as well. There are a lot of cool things going on in here so
like I said if you feel like checking out a new slicer or you want a slicer that makes it easier
to do designing while you're actually in the slicer you can modify your model while in
matter control. So this is matter control 2.0 and it's working really nice. I'm enjoying it so far.
If you get the chance definitely check it out. And as always guys I am Technivorous. Thanks for
watching this video. Don't forget to hit the like button. You can subscribe right here by clicking
on the icon and I put a couple videos up in the corner. One of them is going to be my latest video,
my latest upload and the other one is going to be what YouTube recommends for you so feel free
to check those out. Don't forget to hit that bell for notifications down below and we'll see you
