The video demonstrates how to use the Millery Gene Pro G1 rangefinder to strategize and lower scores on a par 5 hole. The presenter highlights the device's integrated laser and GPS capabilities, showing how to plan landing zones, avoid hazards, and calculate precise yardages to make informed shot decisions.
Today I'm playing a par 5 here at the Frosted Vardy to show you how to plan your strategy
to lower your scores. We will do this so it will suit different levels of golfers also.
To help do this we're going to use the Millery Gene Pro G1 rangefinder. This is the first laser
and GPS in the industry with a touchscreen. This device delivers full course strategic
intelligence to power your every shot decision. It gives us integrated dynamic yardage readouts,
customised layer planning markers, range sync mapping and directional pinpointer all in one
tool. This isn't just a gadget that spits out raw yardage, it acts as your personal dedicated
caddy in the valley, helping you plan safe landing zones avoiding all the hazards on the golf course
such as bunkers, waters, trees, all the things that you don't want to get stuck behind or
landing. There's no more switching back and forth with different devices from watches to phones
with lasers. It's an all-in-one device that can help like that at all. The full colour display
is bright, easy and simple to use. It's got 43,000 courses pre-loaded, no subscription fees,
no syncing up to your phone, just all-in-one device. Okay 17 hole, 470 yard par 5.
Pretty straightforward hole, again we can have a look at
the plan. This bit over the road is about 220 yards, 240 yards gets us close to that corner.
If I place it about where I would fit it, a little bit better than that.
About 280 yards, that's my line really there, there I just left it at.
Zoom back out. The idea that leaves me 200 yards to the hole in par 5 to try and look
into the ideal objective. Okay so the plan that I've worked out from basically the buggy and using
the GPS is I'm going to try and hit a drive as a par 5. I'm trying to go down the middle of the
fairways we would look here or possibly slightly edging towards the left side. I know if I hit it
on the middle line, again I can't run out, that will leave me about 200 yards if I hit a great
drive and that gives me the option to get up to. Obviously with this green, knowing the hole is
water on the right-hand side, the more to the left I am as well, it means I'm hitting
kind of away from the water for my second shot. So hugging the left-hand side is the priority.
I'm teeing up on the right-hand side of the tee because I'm trying to hit it down the left-hand
side a tiny bit. It's a driver, not a lot of thinking, it's a par 5, it's a wide open fairway,
there's no real hazards apart from trees. I'm going to try and just hit a good solid long
drive down the left-hand side. Just down the left-hand side, might be just behind the trees
but kind of just overcooked it a touch. So one of the best features of this device for me is the
ball, the hole feature. So we haven't got car paths here but if you had a car path here,
you can go from the car path, flash it on the ball, flash it on the hole and it gives you
the yardage. You don't need to carry three or four clubs from the car path over. For me here,
I'm stuck slightly behind the tree, middle of the fairway, I can now buzz my ball here,
zap my ball, that's point one and I go to the flag, point two and it gives me 234 yards to the
flag. So without me having to go over to the ball, the tree's in the way so I can't zap it for that.
I can do it from here, get my yardage. In this case, I'm probably going to lay up because I've
got the water on the right, the tree's making me start the ball right so it's a very high risk. I
have to hit a draw shot with a five wood off the fairway over the water so I'm going to lay up.
Because I'm laying up, the GPS works better than the laser so I'm going to click on this mode here
and zoom in, plug it down to where I want to go. I want to lay it well short of the water
so that gives me 140 yard layup. That's my plan now, I'm going to hit something out 140 yards,
come back out, that leaves me 82 yards to the back of the green and if I move the flag in the green
that will give me a different yardage to the flag. The flag in this case is more middle to front left
so it would be probably more like a 70 to 60 yard shot but that's a great way of finding holders
using the GPS. So I'm going to hit 139 yard shot and it's downwind so because it's downwind that's
going to take about 10 yards off the yardage again so 129 yard shot so full wedge for me
but because the tree's in the way I'm probably just going to chip out a little lay time trying
Okay so my tee shot's short and I would like to be caught the tree,
kicked out here, we've already discussed what we're going to do, we're going to lay it up
because the tree's in the way I can't hit a normal shot so I'm going to hit like a punchy eight iron
so I'm taking the yardage off an eight iron, eight iron would normally go about 150 yards for me
I'm trying to hit this about 129, I'm going to try and take the yardage off that and just keep it if I can
low and down the left hand side to give me the best next shot, almost like playing chess.
I have the kind of 70-30 rule so if I could pull a shot off 70% of the time hitting the draw with
a five wood over the water I would do that, for me it's a high risk shot and again it's a par five
layup I can still get up and down for a birdie or even worse than par. So ball back in the stance,
narrow stance, handle forward, short swing, chip it out, down, down. So golf course is on flat
uphill and downhill so for uneven lies uphill or downhill it comes with smart slope technology
that allows you to toggle back and forth with this dial here for tournament legal or cheat mode if
you like when you're playing that measures humidity temperature and slopes for huge accuracy.
One quick twist of the smart dial makes it tournament legal instantly. Under the hood it
packs industry-leading laser optics and range of performance you won't find on competing models.
600 yard flag lock that filters out background clutter and industry best plus or minus 5.5 yard
accuracy near instant 0.1 response time with vibration alert once locked on far reaching 1300
max range 90% highlighting coating on the lenses with crisp six times magnification
in any lighting conditions from low light or sunrise. It's not just me that loves this product
the Misley Gene Pro G1 was named the best range finder by mygolfspy in 2026 and to give you total
peace of mind the Misley Gene Pro G1 is backed by a 10-year manufacturer warranty after purchase.
If you want to simplify every yardage read in the golf course it's the Misley Gene Pro G1
so 101 yards to the flag zero slope playing 101 yards so again we were estimating how much we can
leave ourselves we've got 101 yards i'm happy with that slope feature means i've got peace of mind
and know if the slope's affecting it from a distance point of view again it's downwind
for a wedge shot i'd probably say it's going to affect it less than the full shot i'd normally
go this wind today would be like a one club wind like a 10 yard wind but because this is short
i'm going to go five yard wind so i'm going to play this about 96 yards to the flag so me that's
going to be my 50 degree wedge with a smaller swing in my pitch style mode so if you like the
visuals rather than using the laser you can see the green shape here very accurate you can move
the flag to where you feel it is in the green and that will show you again the front of the green
landing spot 88 yards 103 yards to the flag so again they're very similar so we're playing it
at 95 yards so full 50 degree wedge will go too far so i'm going narrower stance pressure on the
lead but about 60 percent swing anything to try and swing it back to about chest high
look back and through and again from a release point of view i'm trying not to rotate the club
over so i'm not getting that rotational release it's much more kind of just letting the lever
scoop under a bit to get that top edge up get extra loft provided to get that extra spin
let's have a go okay so my approach shots tiny bit short again about 20 feet away so 20 foot
left to right breaking putt again from this range pace and line important so it's going to aim about
three cups out to the left try and get the pace right oh right on line but just short so i really
enjoyed using the dual function device on the golf course it really helped me being able to
laser flags look and lay out things that i like
visualization yes i think helps plan the hole better so if you're looking to simplify your
golf game search out the ms lee team pro g1 to upgrade your game and start playing golf with no
