AI GeneratedThis video ranks eight fourth-entry films in superhero franchises, exploring the trend where these sequels often fail. While many suffer from poor budgets, excessive camp, or wasted potential, a few stand out as exceptional finales or crowd-pleasers, with Avengers: Endgame taking the top spot.
Spider-Man Brand New Day joins a very rare breed of being a fourth entry in a superhero franchise
and what's even rarer is that it's a good fourth entry because historically speaking those that
made it to a fourth movie didn't exactly peak there. There's a reason there's never been a
fifth movie in a franchise. In this video I'll be ranking all eight of the fourth entries in
superhero franchises. Superman 4 The Quest for Peace which is a very hard watch. Christopher
Reeve is iconic in the role sure but that doesn't really help much here. This movie might be the
single worst looking superhero movie of all time as not only is it pretty old at this point and
therefore dated but even for the time it looked awful as the movie had a paper-thin budget which
shines through in every shot. Bad for the time and even worse for now nuclear man is a terrible
villain and an original one at that and the fight scenes are actually somehow gross. This movie has
absolutely no redeeming qualities and should be left in the past. It is what set a precedent that
took a while to break. The fourth movie in a comic book movie franchise is not good.
Batman and Robin didn't exactly help with that stigma. It could be argued that it is the first
of the George Clooney movies, the second of the Joel Schumacher movies or what it was considered
for a very long time the fourth of a series that began with Batman 89 with the Alfred and Gordon
actors to connect the four. If it does count it's a quintessential awful fourth entry. The campiness
is taken much too far with a Gotham City that feels like a toy set in a movie that feels like
a toy commercial. Nipples on the batsuit and god-awful writing that is just an endless array
of puns. I think George Clooney did have the potential to maybe be good casting for Batman
but it didn't really seem like he tried to give a good performance not that I could really blame
him considering what he had to work with. I will say unlike Superman 4 which is just hard to watch
Batman and Robin has more of an it's so bad it's good quality as you could definitely find a lot of
enjoyment with just how far they take the campiness. There's also like one scene between Bruce and
Alfred that feels like it's from another movie which is genuinely heartfelt but overall let's
not kid ourselves there's a reason they did a complete tonal shift with the next Batman movie
Batman and Robin is terrible. Before we continue I want to give a huge shout out to the king tier
members for the extra support. They and the noble tier members could get early access to certain
videos the big videos that I work a long time on so become a member today for that and let me know
in the comments down below what your favorite and least favorite fourth entry is in a superhero
franchise. Thor love and thunder might be a lesson in not giving a director too much freedom. Thor
Ragnarok was a huge win as audiences reacted so much more positively to it than the other Thor
movies. They finally found their stride only to immediately take it way too far in love and
thunder making something significantly worse than the first two Thor movies. The movie turns Thor
into a joke an absolute idiot who cannot possibly succeed at anything in a movie with a lame
nonsensical plot. I mean if gore thinks that gods don't care about anything and that's why they need
to be killed why would he kidnap kids with the idea that they care about these kids? This movie
is nothing but wasted potential. A wasted villain by giving him a lesser design and not allowing him
to do any actual god butchering almost at all on screen. A wasted emotional core which is undercut
by eye-rollingly bad comedy and just a generally wasted really good storyline. There is one really
cool black and white scene and Christian Bale does his best but he didn't really have anything good
to work with. This movie's problems can be exemplified by Korg who is a self-insert of Taika
Waititi. He was hilarious in Ragnarok but here he is so very annoying and I think Thor love and
thunder is so bad it feels non-canon and can only be really explained away as Korg's interpretation
of these events. By the time Dark Phoenix came around the X-Men prequels had already fallen apart.
It's been 30 years in universe since first class and no one has aged a day. The last movie ended
with the X-Men in great individual superhero costumes only for them to be wearing lame
cheap-looking uniform suits. Then the movie tries for the second time to adopt a story that maybe
needs more than one movie to tell and this time arguably does it even worse with a lame villain,
rushed character drama and rushed character deaths and a disjointed script that was heavily
changed to avoid comparisons to Captain Marvel but ends up being lesser because of it.
The Red America trilogy is banger after banger it's pretty much perfect but as soon as they became
a quadrilogy and maybe also as soon as Chris Evans left it received its first dud. The movie tries to
recapture the Winter Soldier Cold War espionage vibe but it kind of just falls apart as the villain
the leader ends up being extremely lame and kind of stupid somehow. Sam simply I think isn't the
leading man that Steve was and it feels like this movie knows it as it tries yet again for the second
time after the Falcon and the Winter Soldier to make it a point to show how Sam needs to prove
himself to be Captain America but cool aerial battle aside he never really does. I like the
dynamic between Sam and Joaquin and I didn't really dislike anything aside from the leader
I just remember coming out of the theater thinking to myself yeah that was fine which is not a good
first impression and is not anywhere near my thoughts about any of the other Captain America
movies I love all three of them. The first good movie on this list and it can be argued that it
isn't actually a fourth entry at all Deadpool Wolverine is certainly more of a Deadpool movie
than a Wolverine movie but also Wolverine is literally in the title and it does fit as the
Wolverine trilogy was really three unrelated movies with little to no connection to each
other and maybe even take place in different universes hell this movie connects more to a
previous Wolverine movie as it connects to Logan than the others do to each other so since we're
counting it Deadpool and Wolverine is a pretty good fourth entry the movie is very funny and
extremely entertaining it's awesome to see Wolverine finally all suited up and it's so
cool to see Deadpool and Wolverine teaming up I think visually speaking the movie is a bit ugly
and I don't really like the plot I think it doesn't really make all that much sense but
there are some really standout moments that hold weight and the movie definitely succeeds
at being a very fun crowd pleaser with those moments to hold it together it's not my favorite
Deadpool movie it's not my favorite Wolverine movie but it is one of the best fourth entries
in a superhero franchise but there are in my opinion only two truly great fourth entries
in superhero franchises and this video was created because of the second place entry
Brand New Day is an extremely entertaining funny character focused drama about a lonely
Peter Parker and how that manifests physically doing a really great job at following up on
the ending of No Way Home the visuals the swinging the action the fight scenes the
New York City and the spider suits are all a clear upgrade from the first three in this franchise
and the movie is one of the best in the MCU when it comes to utilizing its cinematic universe from
Spider-Man's incredible dynamic with the Punisher which is so fun to the return of the Hulk which
is awesome and a lot more the villain if you can call them that was a very bold choice but I do
think it mostly pays off and is most certainly very seamlessly connected to the plot and character
arcs without making the movie feel overstuffed Tom Holland gives arguably his best performance
yet as he feels more like the true Spider-Man than ever the MCU Spider-Man franchise is on a roll and
hopefully it will soon join the even more exclusive club of having a fifth entry in a franchise a
club that will be started this year by the sequel to the number one placement on this list
Avengers Endgame isn't only the fourth Avengers movie but it's also the 22nd MCU movie and the
finale to the one and only successful cinematic universe and then nails the landing on both
fronts Endgame has a dark empty feeling first act in this post snap world that perfectly lays the
groundwork for the semi post-apocalyptic world we need to undo a fun time heist second act that
connects back through the franchise and an epic grand and emotional third act that is simply
unmatched in the sheer amount of heroes brought together to fight the ultimate foe Avengers Endgame
is absolutely everything it needed to be and more and as a general consensus but speaking for myself
this is certainly true this movie was the single greatest theater experience of all time we laughed
we cheered we cried Endgame is a rare breed a great ending a great fourth entry and arguably
the best superhero movie of all time although i'm aware that that is very debatable but let me know
your thoughts in the comments down below obviously most fourth entries in superhero franchises are
not very good but which one of them is your favorite and watch this video next
