Alright so I've been wanting to try this pair of sneakers out for a while and I finally
ended up buying a pair of them.
This is the On Cloud Tilts and obviously Zendaya is kind of a thing now, doing some big things
and working with On as well, which is I think super awesome.
But anyway this is a black ivory colorway of the Cloud Tilts and this is the colorway
that I chose.
I'm actually pretty impressed with what we have in hand here.
So this is my fifth model from On that I've been trying to date and honestly they keep
making better and better stuff.
But in this video I wanted to give you guys three reasons why I think that you should
consider buying these things because I think it's worth a look.
I'm really excited to see where this brand takes things from here though.
Obviously they have a lot of momentum right now with On and Hoka against Nike I guess
and the Goliaths out there.
But On Running definitely has a unique look to the models that definitely differentiate
themselves from the other ones on the market.
And the funny thing is if you guys are like me, you guys associate the name Cloud with
On because I thought originally the company was called On Cloud but it's actually On Running.
So funny that we made that association because the original models were called the On Cloud
X and even more ironic is like those shoes were not very comfortable at all in comparison
to the stuff that they have now.
But now we have the latest version, the On Cloud Tilts.
This one is $160 at retail and I will say that they do fit true to size in my opinion.
My 9.5 fits me just right.
Now a couple words from what On, what they say about the product.
All day movement made better.
The Cloud Tilt is built with Cloud Tech phase with an ultra cushioned midsole for smooth
lightweight movement precision crafted to support your foot's most delicate mechanics.
This shoe is perfectly engineered for city adventures.
Step in and go.
The Cloud Tilt is designed with a smart lock construction that's easy to pull on and off
your foot.
Plus speed lacing takes less time to fasten so you can step in and get going with less
fuss.
This literally pretty much sounds like the perfect shoe for myself.
And I like that they actually call out that these are made for walking.
They do have other shoes obviously made for running.
So this is kind of more of the casual sort of pair of sneakers which is right up my alley.
Now straight out of the box you look at the shoe.
I like what they have going on here.
The engineered mesh sort of vibes on the upper looks really nice.
I like the simple brandings on each side and then also on like the toe box section and
also on the heel.
Then the tongue also has the On logo.
The tongue is nicely padded and the laces is what draws me to the shoe first.
So that's the first thing and the first major reason why I think that you should consider
getting these.
It's a simple thing but it's the construction of the laces.
I really like what they did here making these laces fixed and just a simple way of putting
on and taking off the shoes.
For me simplicity is definitely a thing.
I don't like to tie my shoes basically ever.
So if I can get around doing that and still have a good amount of lockdown and still feel
comfortable and not like I'm going to roll an ankle because I'm wearing them so loose
which is kind of like an oxymoron wearing shoes loose and not expecting to roll an ankle
but I think that they do integrate the lacing system perfectly in this shoe.
These are stretchy laces and then you have the fixed little section at the very top.
It's basically the way I wear my shoes as is already.
I always use it like a double lace at the top to make it a little bit more firm and
like harder to fall out.
But man they did a great job on that.
But anyway that's the first reason definitely consider to buy.
Now the padding on the tongue the padding on the collar is nice.
It's not super crazy thick but it's definitely nice soft comfortable.
But then you work your way down to the midsole and that's where a lot of magic happens like
I love the idea of what they did here because they did a different stack of the midsole.
You can see the tilted nature of all of the different like orbs in the midsole and the
spacing that's totally different than what we've seen in the past.
Like I have the cloud surfers out here just for comparison and you can see that all of
the cloud servers kind of falls down like a domino the way that the spacing happens
in the midsole.
But this one has definitely a tilt nature to it and then it tilts downwards and stuff
so not something we've seen in the past.
But I will tell you that on feet these things feel really good and that's the second reason
I think you should consider is just the midsole comfort is actually really really nice.
It's really soft underfoot but not too soft and squishy where you're feeling like you're
going to roll an ankle or anything like that.
I think they did a nice balance with the materials so you feel a little bit snappy but you definitely
feel supported and you definitely feel like there's a good amount of cushion.
It's a tough balance to make honestly in this day and age and of course what they make for
one person isn't going to be tailored to the next person because sometimes people prefer
something firmer sometimes people prefer something that's more max cushion.
So this is kind of like an in-betweener sort of model where it hits more boxes probably
for the majority of people out there.
It does say that the midsole uses a cloud tech phase and again I love the simple thing
yeah it's called a tilt and you can actually see the tilt in the midsole.
I don't know.
It's something cool and something I appreciate and just for comparison side by side in my
opinion the surfers are actually a little bit more comfortable on feet than these.
Now that could be because I worn these in a little bit more but I really really like
the surfers.
I like these ones better than the Monsters and even the more max cushion versions that
they have from on but the tilts I really like on feet and the lacing system integrated and
everything else I think is just a match made.
Before I get into the last reason why I think you should cop my only complaint about the
model is it's not ultra breathable like the upper is not super breathable.
I would say that the surfers are much more breathable.
This material is nice and thick and probably more rugged and last longer but it just doesn't
feel very breathable in my opinion.
And so if you want a shoe that's going to have like extra breathability this one might
not be the best one.
And hand in hand without breaking out the scale I would say that the surfer is a little
bit lighter as well.
I'll link both of these in the description if you guys are interested in purchasing either.
I did a review on the surfers already on my channel if you guys want to see that but updated
side by side I still think the surfers are my number one.
For efficiency's sake I brought out the scale 9.6 ounces so under 10 ounce shoe and yeah
8.4 ounces for the surfers.
So 8.4 lighter more breathable softer underfoot the surfers are my choice but that doesn't
mean that these are not excellent shoes as well.
If you'd like something a little bit firmer than the surfers I feel like that is what
the experience is on here.
The lockdowns better the all around usage of these are probably going to be a little
bit better.
And the last reason I think you should consider buying these paired with the laces I love
the idea of these being a step in and go sort of pair.
You do have to kind of hold on the tongue and hold on to the heel and step in.
But I do like the idea of them being easy to get on having the ability to step in and
go is a nice especially as an active dad.
Two little ones I'm always late for something.
So be able to put these shoes on quickly easily without to do any lace work and then just
being able to have them fit nice once you get them on.
I feel like that's another big feat like the overall structure of the shoe when you have
them on helps you put nice enough because of the lacing system with the stretchy stuff
and then also the tongue is semi gusseted as well so the tongue doesn't shift around
a ton.
So smart design there.
The heel not being overly padded like not as much heel cushioning as you get on the
surfers but enough here that you can slip them on and go and then you start walking
around and it's like a nice heel toe transition.
Overall it just feels really really good when you're walking around.
Now also there is a good amount of traction on the outsole of the shoe.
There's a little cutouts here and there between the foam.
You do have some on the heel and then a pretty good amount on the forefoot.
I think the longevity on here is pretty good.
But if you guys have a difference in opinion of course weigh in in the comments section.
Also it does have a 7mm heel toe drop.
The other thing I'd point out is I felt a lot more heel squish in this shoe not as much
in the forefoot.
There's still some forefoot squish here obviously.
And as you're running around like I took the dogs on a run and the forefoot was actually
decent.
It just doesn't feel as much as you're just walking around.
It's definitely more noticeable when you pick up the pace and I'm a heavier set guy obviously
so having the extra cushion for me is nice.
In fact I saw a comment the other day is like I don't know why everybody thinks cushions
good blah blah blah like cushions bad for you.
But I'm like dude you probably weigh 110 pounds like I'm a bigger guy.
And like the cushion especially my old age having extra cushion under my joints is really
nice even if there's a small compromise to some stability of the shoe.
Overall if there's extra cushioning it's a plus.
Now that's the thing I like to try to find the best of like a shoe that feels soft on
your foot but also has good stability.
And honestly it's a tough balance in between that.
So that's where some of the brands come up with stuff that's just too soft and squishy
and sometimes you feel like you're going to break an ankle like the Nike Vaporflies is
an example for me one where historically I felt like I was going to roll an ankle.
The last version was a little bit better but some pairs feel really good when they're soft
and the other ones feel a little bit better when they're firmer.
You do have a good amount of like heel width and stuff in some models.
I would say it is a standard shoe it's not overly wide foot friendly like if you have
a really wide foot you might have a hard time putting the shoe on because of the constriction
of the laces and that's kind of the nature of like having bigger feet bigger ankles.
You're going to have to pull a little bit more to get this thing on and then it's going
to feel a little bit more locked down because of it which could be a good thing but it could
be a little bit snug for people that with like extra wide feet.
So I'm throwing that out there and I did see a comment on one of my recent videos saying
hey dude do like a top 10 like wide foot friendly sneakers I've done that in the past.
I just saw your comment I'll try to work on an updated version of that because there's
a lot of great options out there.
And just a correction I believe the Helion is the super foam in this and then the Cloud
Tech phase allows for the weight transfer and I believe that's where all these things
come into place.
So it's like two different kind of technologies that they always have on their products
there's Cloud Tech and then there's a Helion the Helion is a foam the Cloud Tech I guess
is the arrangement of all the ovals and stuff maybe I don't really know.
Anyways if I had to rate these give them some sort of a metric for the pros the lacing the
cushioning for sure great all around pair.
I love the fact that they're easy to slip on.
All of those are massive pros the cons the fact that they're not super breathable and
they're not wide foot friendly.
Also the traction may be something in the future as for sizing again I went true to
size and the retail price is 160 again stability I would give it an 8 out of 10
breathability I'd give it like a 6.8 out of 10 and just for me it didn't feel super
breathable traction maybe like an eight and a half out of 10 the cover rating for me
though I'd give it like an 8.9 out of 10 like overall it was pretty nice on feet.
I would still rate the surfers a little bit higher but that's just again my opinion and
what I like if you do want something that's a little bit firmer on foot just a great all
around sort of pair easy to get on a go to everyday walker like I'm going to be doing
an updated vacation sneaker list soon this would probably be on that list because it's
not too soft it's firm enough where you can feel secure and I feel like this one hits
a lot of boxes a lot of people probably really enjoy the shoe.
If you guys are interested in buying a pair I'll link them in the description as well
as the surfers but I appreciate y'all for stopping by and watching if you guys have
other future videos and suggestions for sneakers that you guys would like to see comparisons
to leave a comment let me know and appreciate y'all for stopping in and watching have a
good one hopefully see you back on the channel for some more content alright peace guys.
