AI GeneratedThis video discusses \"unnecessary necessaries\"—items for an RV that aren't strictly essential for survival or operation but significantly enhance comfort, convenience, and the overall travel experience. The speaker shares a curated list of 11 products that make RV living more enjoyable, ranging from cooking appliances to pet safety tools.
So let's be honest. We all have stuff in our RVs. We all have lots and lots and lots of stuff in
our RVs. Some of us have way too much stuff in our RVs. That being said, you could probably have a
list of things you have in your RV that you don't want. In fact, we've got a list of 11 things that
you don't need in your RV, but you'll be glad you have them. Unnecessary necessaries. Yes.
And we're just going to get right to it. So one of the things that's not really necessary to have
is a clothesline. These are awesome for towels. We have a combined washer dryer unit,
but let's be honest. Jeans take a really long time to dry. This, I can bring them out here
hanging up. If you have kids that constantly go in and out of the pool, it's great for their
swim clothes, their pool towels or beach towels. It's one of those non-necessary necessaries.
Carry it with us everywhere we go. But before you hang one up, be sure it's not against your
campground rules. Some people are picky. So one of the things I want to talk to you about that's
not necessary, but you'll be glad you brought is a griddle. From day one, my assignment was
to get out and cook breakfast. I guess because I did it for so many years with my
You've got 40 years experience cooking breakfast. I haven't done. Go for it, dude.
But what I love about it is the ability to save money. If you're in a campground, you're already
paying for the electricity. Lynn and I are kind of frugal. So instead of using propane on a
blackstone or something, I'll use a griddle and save money and get a great meal. So one of the
things that's on our list of an unnecessary necessary is a new mattress for our bed. We
slept on this thing one night and we knew at that moment that that mattress was not going to stay.
One night was all it took because it was the worst mattress ever. We chose a Brooklyn bedding
mattress. We've loved it, been very happy with it the entire time we've had it. And if we were
going to replace it again, we'd probably get exactly the same thing because we really like
it. An upgraded mattress is a very much a necessity. My dog's wanting up. She's standing
and sneezes at me until I pick her up. This is one of those things you can do without, if you want to,
without an upgraded mattress. But you're going to be really glad when you get something that will
give you a good, comfortable night's sleep so you can enjoy all your adventures. So one of the things
on my list is a lantern. We've probably all got a flashlight or two in our rig, but I really love
having a lantern. Lynn loves it when she can put it on the table when we're out eating, you know,
daylight savings time going away and it gets dark so early in the fall. We love putting this on the
table so we got a little bit of light because it gets, it's getting dark before five o'clock.
And what I like about it is it's got this handle so you can use your hands without holding it. You
can hold something else and then walk down the road with it as you're going to the bathhouse or
anywhere else you're going to. So this is one thing that I would say you probably won't even
though you don't need it. Another thing you don't necessarily have to have in your RV, but you'll be
really glad that you've got, is some kind of toaster oven. We have a Ninja oven and what I like
about it is that it will air fry, broil, air roast, bake, convection bake, toast, bagel, reheat, dehydrate,
or keep warm. I can just about do everything with this. I don't use my big oven at all. We've never
even turned it on. I don't want the heat in the RV that it puts off in the summertime and this just
does a better job because it's more like my oven at home. So I don't have to have it. I got this,
but I'm very grateful that I do have it. And one of the really cool things that I like about this
one here is that it's a space saver. When I'm done using it and it's all cooled off, you see all the
space it's taking up. All I have to do is do like this and it's folded up and out of my way. It rides
there down the road without any trouble at all. It's awesome. So another thing on my list is a small
portable propane grill. If you notice a trend, somehow I'm always cooking. So it's something
that gives lentil breaks and we love getting a hamburger out on the grill or some grilled chicken
and it's something that we don't necessarily need or you won't necessarily need, but you'll be glad
you brought it. Okay, so this is something that you really need in your camper, but it's not
necessary that you have. You have a stove, so you don't really need this, but I love this thing. I
can do absolutely everything in here. I can bake in it. I can sear. I can saute. I can cook a roast
in here. It's kind of like a crock pot and an insta pot combined. Tonight I'm going to make
soup in here and I'll scramble my hamburger meat in it and then I'll turn it to a different setting
and I'll throw my vegetables in it and let it sit and simmer for a little while. It makes great soup.
It's just good for so many things. This is called the instant pot, not to be confused with an instant
pot, which it's the same brand, but it does different things. So we could not find one of
these. I don't know if they're not making them anymore or what, so Danny is going to put a
different one in the link so that you can find it if you're interested. This is something that I'm
so grateful for to have and carry with us. Don't like the heat the stove puts in the camper when
it's already 100 degrees outside. So one of the things that's on my list of things that I don't
need, but I'm glad I have and you'll probably be glad you have if you get it, is Flextail's Max
Repel. It's a mosquito repellent and it's electronic and it'll heat the pads up and keep
those mosquitoes away. We had some terrible mosquito problems in Upper Peninsula Michigan,
out west in Montana, and the Max Repel saved the day for us. So as you know, we travel with
two cats and a dog. Hair is atrocious in our RV. This is something that I absolutely would not
travel without. We actually, my battery died on it one day and I immediately got on Amazon,
ordered a new battery, and we stayed where we were at until it got there because it can't be
without a cordless vacuum. It's awesome. It does everything. I can vacuum everywhere with this
thing. Ours is a Dyson. You don't have to have a Dyson. I got a Dyson because I got it free with
credit card points. Get whatever you want and you will be really glad you have it. Now you can
sweep. It'll probably work the same. I hate sweeping. I like vacuuming. So my cordless vacuum
is on my list of cannot live without, even though there are other options. So something on my list
of things that you don't necessarily need, but you'll be glad you did, are walkie talkies. Now
we don't use these all the time, but we've had to use them when backing in. We've let friends use
them when they were backing in and they're even good for if you're traveling with some friends to
have one in one vehicle near another as you're going over the mountains or something. So
this might be something you want to consider is walkie talkies. So as we've said before,
we travel with an entire zoo between Bella and our cats. There are just so many animals in this RV.
One of the things that we travel with that we don't want to be without is our waggle pet monitor.
It gives us so much peace of mind when we are out and about that we will get alerts if it's
hot or too cold. Too cold we don't really worry about. Too hot can be really deadly for your
animals. So it's not a 100% necessary thing, but you'll be really glad you got it. So we hope this
list was useful to you and you found a couple of non-necessary necessaries that you can use.
Things you don't really, really need. You don't have to have. But you'll be glad you have. So
we're going to put links down below in the description of most of these products that
you might want to get and just in case you need them. Until next time,
God bless and many safe travels. And go RV America!
