By relying on these pre-set combinations of silhouettes and textures, the creator demonstrates how to simplify morning routines, maximize the use of existing wardrobe pieces, and maintain a professional yet effortless aesthetic during the warmer months.
One of the easiest ways to make your wardrobe feel more cohesive is to rely on outfit formulas
instead of trying to create brand new outfits every single morning. In today's video I will
be sharing three workwear outfit formulas that I alternate regularly for the summertime. These
outfit formulas will make getting dressed feel a little easier and will help you get more wear
out of the pieces that you already have hanging in your closet. So let's begin. Outfit formula
number one is a pair of structured trousers, a flowy top, a belt, and a pair of ballet flats.
This is one of my go-tos whenever I'm unsure of what to wear and I have a few different trousers
that I like to wear for work that I can alternate creating outfits with and they all pretty much
work with my nicer tops as well. So in this outfit we are playing with different fabrics, textures,
and silhouettes to create a cohesive outfit. So for this look I am wearing a white pair of tailored
trousers. These look a little bit more structured because of the thicker tailoring fabric they are
made of. They also have a slight barrel leg to them and they hold their shape pretty well with
the front pleat detail going down the front of each leg. I decided to pair this with a more flowy
top for that contrast and silhouettes. So for this look I decided to make it a little bit more monochrome
but any pop of color would look just as beautiful for this type of outfit as well. So here I am
wearing my go-to favorite t-shirt from COS. It is in a slight oversized style, it is a little bit
more drapey, and I like to play with the fabric that I have tucked into the trousers around my
waist to change up the silhouette. The accessories bring this whole outfit together with a belt and
some woven ballet flats. I have a very contrasty color palette going on here but the accessories
add that element of texture to this look making this outfit feel effortless, simple, but never boring.
The next outfit is a pair of linen pants with a structured knit top, a pair of ballet flats yet
again, and an accessory that you love to wear and love to add to your outfits whether that is a pair
of earrings, a statement bracelet, or a statement belt. Again for this look we are playing with
different textures. In this case we have linen against this chunkier cotton knit material which
work so beautifully together for this time of year. So for this outfit I am wearing a pair of black
linen pants in a wide leg style against this more chunky and structured sleeveless knit top.
Since we are constantly going in and out of air conditioning and the heat, we need outfits that
don't need a lot of work. So right there just with these two pieces and the different materials that
they are made of, we have a visually interesting outfit. Now the next step is to add the finishing
touches that will bring this look all together. I have added yet again the woven ballet flats which
are the same as earlier. They just add that perfect subtle summery touch to this entire look
and yet they are still comfortable and appropriate for the office or for work in general. Now for the
second accessory I would personally add a pair of statement earrings to this look but you can really
make this outfit your own with the addition of these little details to make the outfit more you
and more personalized. Whether that is a belt, something else would be a statement bracelet like
those tortoiseshell bangles we've been seeing a lot styled for this summer. This is a really easy
outfit formula that you can apply to your everyday looks and really make your own with the addition
of these small details. For the third and final outfit formula, it is a tailored maxi skirt,
a casual top, in this case in a pop of color, a pair of ballet flats and a belt as an accessory.
For this third look I wanted to style a piece that I wore a lot in the winter and in the springtime
and I was trying to find a way that I could wear this piece into the summer as well. At the same
time I think this is a piece that many of us may have in our closet in some sort of style so this
is what I came up with. So for this particular look I am wearing a black maxi skirt that is in
that tailoring type of material. It also has the structure of a tailored skirt as well but I love
that it goes all the way to the floor and really makes a subtle statement in an outfit just by the
amount of real estate it takes up in an outfit. To make this look a little bit more summery with a
pop of color and to dress this piece down I paired it with a red basic t-shirt and for the accessories
I added a belt to bring these two pieces together. And again for that more summery element I paired
it with the same leather woven ballet flats as earlier but after wearing this outfit I think what
would fit a lot nicer is playing with the color palette and introducing another red element into
this outfit and I do have a pair of red ballet flats. You can really have fun with the color
palette in this look. If you also have a black tailored skirt in your wardrobe then you can play
with different pops of color like blue or green, maybe introduce some summery pastels with black
for more of a contrasty look or go full-on tonal and pair a black t-shirt with your black maxi skirt
and just add those accessories like belts, shoes, and jewelry for that added texture to your outfit.
So these are my three outfit formulas that I alternate between for the summertime whenever
I'm getting ready to go to work. I often fall back on one of these three formulas and it really helps
me get dressed in the morning a lot faster and pick which pieces fit best with each formula
and that way I'm getting a lot more wear out of the pieces that I have in my closet as well.
