The rash of burglaries in downtown Danville has merchants upset and police
trying to find those responsible. Now, many of the break ins from this week,
they were caught on video KTVU crime reporter Henry Lee live tonight there
outside Danville police with the story, Henry.
Well, this crew basically went from one business to the next in downtown
Danville, not stealing much, relatively speaking, but leaving behind much damage
in the form of broken glass and doors. A mass burglar smashed his way inside a
beauty salon in Danville, one of many downtown businesses hit by the same
crew early Tuesday morning with flashlight in hand. He rummaged
through Dolce Beauty Salon and even helped himself to some treats in the
back. They just took all the snacks and and then pulled off the camera that was
in front. This video shows the same intruder removing the camera. On
thursday, a work crew removed the plywood that was on the door and
replaced the glass. The same burglars are suspected of targeting other
businesses at crossroads of Danville. Merchants like Murad, who was not
victimized, are nevertheless upset. I'm worried about the next time that will
hit me. There shouldn't be anything like that. It's Danville, it's wealthy
neighborhood. A few doors down. These three broke into Los Pancho's mexican
restaurant, shattering the front door. They went to the bar, stole bottles of
alcohol and smashed cash registers. Sultan's Kebab, a mediterranean
restaurant was also burglarized, but the intruders left empty handed. Unlike
in november when thieves stole $20,000, I spoke to an owner who did not want
his face shown very angry because they took my money. I'm working every day. I
never thought it would happen in Danville. Thieves stole about $700
from this man's indian restaurant. Usually they don't keep that much money
around, but this time he forgot to take the cash with him. I'm very upset it
happened unfortunately. So hopefully the cops will take extra care. I hope
cops catch will catch them based on the timing. The same crews suspected in
another spree of break ins at the Danville Square shopping center down
the street here. They broke into a sushi restaurant as well as a nail salon
using a device that easily shattered the glass. They rummaged through cash
registers and stole $400. They also broke into this cafe. Now Danville
Police, which is part of the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, are
investigating anyone with information is asked to give them a call live in
Danville. Henry Lee KTVU, Fox two news.
