2027 Kia Telluride | Top 5 Things You Should Know
Sep 2, 2026
Kia's popular three-row flagship is entering its second generation and it is bringing massive
updates across the board. Arriving with its first-ever hybrid powertrain option, a larger
cabin, and high-tier luxury amenities, the 2027 Kia Telluride aims to supplant the kings of the
family SUV segment. Let's break down the top 5 things you need to know about the 2027 Kia
Telluride. But first, here's a quick message from our sponsor. You didn't compromise on your vehicle,

Starting at number five, comprehensive design updates inside and out. On the exterior,
the new Telluride grows longer by 2.3 inches with a 2.7 inch longer wheelbase,
giving it a commanding stance while improving passenger and cargo space. By making those
changes, the aerodynamic efficiency has also improved with the Telluride dropping its drag
coefficient down to 0.30. Up front, vertical headlines frame a bold high-gloss grille,
while flush door handles and chiseled fender accents refine the profile. It's one of the best
looking models in the class, if not the class leader, and this new model only reinforces that.
Inside, the cabin gets a sanctuary-like treatment. The stretched wheelbase unlocks class-leading
second-row legroom and easier third-row access. Comfort takes a major leap with available front
relaxation seats featuring power leg rests, a massaging driver's seat, power climate-controlled
second-row captain's chairs, and even heated third-row outboard seats. Thicker door glass
and expanded sound insulation ensure the ride stays quiet and refined.
At number four, advanced safety and driver assistance. Kia targeted an IIHS top safety
pick rating by reinforcing the body structure and fitting 10 standard airbags, including a
front-row center airbag designed to stop occupants from hitting each other during a side collision.
Standard features now include hands-on detection, lane-following assist 2,
an in-cabin camera, and both forward and reverse parking sensors.
On the highway, available Highway Driving Assist 2 combines distance control, lane centering,
and automated lane change assistance. You also get a blind spot view monitor, safe exit assist,
and a radar-based rear occupant alert system that can send a push notification directly
to your smartphone if an occupant is detected in the rear seats while you're not there.
At number three, the significantly upgraded X-Pro model. If you want to take your family
off the beaten path, the X-Pro delivers genuine trail hardware. It gets a factory lift yielding
9.1 inches of ground clearance, wider all-terrain tires, an upgraded suspension with additional
travel, and heavy-duty front and rear recovery points. Traction is managed by an electronic
limited-slip differential and a multi-terrain all-wheel drive system with a center differential
lock. To help navigate tight trails, a ground-view monitor projects a composite camera feed of the
terrain under the vehicle at speeds below six miles per hour, while an off-road status screen
displays your pitch, roll, and steering angle. It even includes exclusive exterior ground lighting
to illuminate campsites at night. At number two, cutting-edge cabin technology. The dashboard is
anchored by Kia's connected car navigation cockpit, offering available dual 12.3-inch panoramic curved
displays. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, alongside a generative AI-powered
voice assistant that accepts natural conversational requests, whatever that means to you.
Digital Key 2.0 lets you unlock and start the Telluride using an Apple Watch, iPhone,
or Samsung device. On the center screen, passengers can stream video from Disney+,
Netflix, or YouTube. Or, if you're a basketball fan, Kia's woven its status as the official
automaker of the NBA directly into the vehicle by allowing you to select custom display themes
from all 30 teams. Other tech highlights include a 12-inch head-up display, a full-display digital
rearview mirror, a 14-speaker Meridian premium audio system, MyQ connected garage integration,
and dual standard wireless charging pads that help keep phones in place.
But the number one takeaway is, of course, the first-ever 2.5-liter turbo hybrid. Combining a
turbo four-cylinder with an electric motor and a 1.65-kilowatt-hour battery, it pumps out 329
horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque. For a long time, the Toyota Highlander's hybrid was a
main reason to buy that model. This new development gives buyers yet another reason to opt for the Kia.
On the EX front-wheel drive trim, it earns an EPA-estimated 35 miles per gallon combined
and offers up to 637 miles of total driving range. Hybrid models also feature Stay Mode,
allowing you to run the cabin climate control, lighting, and infotainment on battery power for
up to an hour with the gas engine turned off. The standard engine is a 2.5-liter turbocharged
four-cylinder making 274 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, adding nearly 50 pound-feet
of pulling power over the outgoing V6. It pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission and
hauls up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. That's our breakdown of the all-new 2027 Kia
Telluride. Let us know what your favorite feature is or any other thoughts in the comments down
