Manatee Sheriff's multi-agency Operation Safe Childhood nets 27 arrests

In March 2026, the Sheriff's Office and FDLE launched Operation Matchmaker to target sex offenders failing to report internet and dating app accounts. This, alongside an investigation into crimes against children, formed part of Operation Safe Childhood, resulting in 27 total arrests and numerous charges to protect children and ensure offender compliance.
