Police recruit dies in morning crash near academy

The Atlanta Police Department is mourning the loss of 24-year-old recruit Moses Russ, who died following a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Moreland Avenue and McDowell Boulevard. Russ, a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Corrections, was in his 16th week of the police academy and was commuting to training when the crash occurred.
