Past a certain point you are not paying for better bourbon, you are paying for a heavier bottle, a longer waiting list and the right to tell people what you spent. I have poured the allocated unicorns and the three hundred dollar trades, and not one of them is ten times better than the bottles in this video. So here are ten seriously smooth bourbons, counted down from ten to one, every one of them easy to find and none of them over about fifty dollars.

We go from Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond and Benchmark Bonded up through Larceny, Elijah Craig and Four Roses Small Batch, to Wild Turkey Rare Breed, Henry McKenna 10 and my number one, Russell's Reserve 10. Along the way I get into what bottled-in-bond actually promises, the difference between a wheated bourbon and a high-rye one, and how a barrel-proof whiskey can still drink this smooth.

I also tip my hat to the craft value bottles you have all been putting me onto in the comments.
Tell me in the comments the affordable bottle you would add that I left off, and the expensive one that let you down the most after you finally opened it. Subscribe if this saved you some money. New bottles every week.
