Can you believe it? Deep in the Qinling Mountains of Shaanxi Province, atop Mount Tayun at an altitude of 1665 meters, lies an ancient Taoist temple perched atop a sheer cliff. From afar, the ancient halls stand alone atop the mountain, surrounded by undulating peaks and sheer cliffs, the entire temple perched precariously on this solitary peak. This is the Golden Summit Taoist Temple of Mount Tayun, hailed as "the most dangerous Taoist temple in the world." According to records, the Taoist culture of Mount Tayun has a history of several hundred years. Construction of the temple began during the Ming Dynasty. Having withstood centuries of wind and rain, this ancient structure still stands atop the solitary peak. It's hard to imagine how the ancients, hundreds of years ago, managed to build such a Taoist temple on this precipitous cliff.
