you won't believe what happens in this BreyerFest unboxing...

So this was my Briarfest splurge. Hey everybody, it's DJB. Welcome to my channel. If you're new here, my name is Darren. This is DJB Studios, and this is an unboxing. There's probably spoilers on the box, actually. This was not intentional. So I didn't go to Briarfest this year. I didn't order a surprise purse. I picked my special runs. I got the special runs that I wanted. I really hummed and hawed on what I wanted to do. There's a lot of the special runs that I still like, and I would like to eventually accumulate. So the surprise purse is a big deal every single year. I didn't order one online just because I feel like I don't love the gambler's choice idea of things, and then also, I don't care for the glossies, and then being in Canada and shipping and trading and things just gets messy. Then Briarfest morning, the surprise came out. It was the Vermeer model. I feel like the colors they've released on the model up to this point haven't been very nice. I actually really love the sculpture, and I think he's really nice in person. I find he photographs not great, but when you see him in person, he's really, really sweet, and I do have the black and white Pinto version of him because it is Lynne Fraley's sculpture. She was the one that taught me how to sculpt in a workshop, and I really loved her as a person, and I loved her art style, so I do really like this sculpture. It kind of has this soft place in my heart, and so when they released the surprise, there was a couple of the variations that I really liked, and then the more I looked at them, the more I was like, I like that one, too. I like that one, too. Oh, that one's really nice, and so somebody was selling the entire set of Matt. I considered that my Briarfest special occasion, even though I already had a separate purchase I made for Briarfest, so really this is an additional thing, but it's hard to track all of these down and ship them separately, and it ends up costing a lot of money. Some of these guys are coming out to be very valuable, very rare, very hard to find, so I just went for it, and I bought the whole set, and that is what is in this box. I'm very excited to see them all in person. This is my version of Briarfest because I didn't get to be at Briarfest, and these came relatively fast. I didn't order these that long ago. This morning, it was telling me they were going through DHL Germany, which was very strange. I'm not sure what that was about, so hopefully they're okay in here. It's like a surprise. The person labeled them. Ta-da! So, they are all labeled. So there's a matte bay, matte champagne, matte paint, matte round, and matte blackberry. Oh! Oh my gosh, I got a magnet! Yes! That's awesome, actually. Okay, so this is all five of the surprise purses. They're all matte. I'm matte girly. So originally, I wanted the Appaloosa and the bay round, the paint I was on the fence about, and the bay I definitely wanted. So I wanted three for sure, and I was on the fence about the four. The fifth, I probably will rehaul. I'll do something with him. I'm not sure what, but we're gonna open him first. So these were all pre-opened already. Oh my God. The lady sent her credit card. I don't know what I'm gonna do about that. That's a whole heckin' Visa. I'm gonna have to reach out to the seller. Oh, it totally is. That's crazy. That's a first. I'm gonna put that over here, and we will get that back to the rightful owner or get her to cancel it. Okay. I wonder if there'll be a different credit card in each one of these packs. Oh, she puts little hats back on and everything. This is just like being at the park. It feels like it's Kentucky outside today, honestly. It is so warm. So this is just an extension of that. This is the champagne boy. Ooh, ah. Oh, it smells so good. I don't know how I feel about this one. I'm not a champagne person. Champagne horses kind of bother me. So he's cool though. Like he has like the modeling around the face and in the groin and stuff, but it is a little bit like not my jam. I'm not gonna lie, but he's handsome. Cute. He's cute. So I don't know. He'll probably have a new home, a new fate in life. We'll make a little row. Okay, so then we're gonna open the paints because this one I was on the fence about, but I love a good paint. Just adding to the trash pile as per use. Ooh. Okay, this is very reminiscent of Honey Bear on the York mold. And I had that model for a while and I sold it and I considered buying it back multiple times. But then this one came out and I was like, this one's nicer than Honey Bear. Look at that. He's so handsome. I actually love him so much. He's super duper duper cute. And look at how cool they're gonna look in a row. That's the thing about the surprise horses. It does something to my brain when it's the same sculpture, but like in all of the pretty colors that I love. I guess that's the addiction. I guess that's the like consumerism in me. I don't know, but I'll do the Roan next because I was on the fence about the Roan as well. I like a good Roan. I don't have any solid, solid Roans. I think most of them are have paint markings. Wow. Oh my gosh. This one's actually so pretty. Face shading is actually insane. Oh my gosh. Gotta whisper about it. It's too exciting. Oh, he's really cool. Very, very handsome. They do such a nice job with the eyes on these surprise horses. Like they actually give them eyeballs, but these guys were all originally, I guess, $90 each. So that's not inexpensive. He's really cool, dude. Really cool. And like, look at how cool they look together. If this was buckskin, end of time. So this is the matte base. So this is the one that I actually wanted. And mine has dapples. Not all of them had dapples, but they're like the super soft, subtle. Oh, this horse's color is so gorgeous. He's got a little bit of ear tip because I feel like they all get ear tip now because they're in like this. But the shading on this, I wanted this one immediately. Cause it's like, look at how light it is. It's the same thing. It's like, but just like this layering of the shading is so pretty. He's so nice. Dang it. Okay. This is the matte leopard. Of course I needed this one. This was the one I was after the most. This is seemingly the most rare and hard to find. People have been paying a lot of money for this guy. So the fact that I could just buy them all together, ship them all together, it like made the most sense mainly to get this guy. Heck yeah. Oh yeah. I really dislike that I resort to singing when I'm excited cause I can't sing and then I have to edit it all out of the video. Look at the mane. The like, the smudgy kind of shading in that is actually so epic. He's a pretty cool dude. Very cool. Very, very cool. I like that the spots are actually correct on the top. That's a thing that I am very particular and picky about. Dang guys. Oh, I'm so glad I did this. I found it in the middle of the night and I shouldn't have been like impulsive. But at the same time, it was like, if I don't do it now I will regret and I have no regrets. This is amazing. Even the champagne guy is kind of cool. I'll probably part with him though still. And that's kind of the ultimately the four that I would end up with. This is ultimately, if I could have real horses like my herd would probably look something like this. So cool. So that's my like pre Briarfest little haul. There's still more coming. I'm just not patient enough to wait for all of it to arrive. It just takes a long time for stuff to get here to Canada. This is pregame before we get the actual special run. But I feel like this is more interesting than the other things that I ordered. So yeah, happy Briarfest. I hope everybody had a good 2026. I was kind of ultimately bummed that I didn't end up going. I feel like I could have made it happen, made it work but it's okay. I will try for next year and see where we're at but it was fun to participate in my own way. So thank you so much for watching.
