Wow quite a bit of stuff to get into on today's episode and we're gonna start with college football
Yes, you heard that correctly college football is the topic of conversation today
We're gonna talk a little bit about what Sean McVay had to say about the situation
But first I want to introduce the situation just a little bit. So there is a Cleveland Browns tied in
His name is Daquan Wright, and I think there's another player named Zavian
Harris both of these players aren't guaranteed an NFL roster spot and
Returning to college could potentially give them another opportunity to develop while still earning
Significant money through the NL NIL deals, right?
Some people might hear that and say Josh that sounds crazy
Why would an NFL player who is currently on a roster be even allowed to go back to college football?
Well, that is the exact point of this conversation. Look, this is more of a college football conversation
If you really ask me we're talking about recruiters. We're talking about high school players
We're talking about guys who are trying to make NFL to call college rosters trying to make NIL college money
Coming out of high school and now losing out on some of those opportunities
Because of guys who couldn't make it in the NFL considering going backwards and playing college football
Some coaches are against it some coaches are for it a whole lot of mixes and matches of stuff to talk about here
We'll talk about what the Rams head coach had to say about this situation, but it is a currently a wild situation going on
I'm curious what you guys think about it for those who have broken it down who have heard about what this all entails
How are you guys feeling about this current situation if you're a college football fan, especially?
I really want to know what your thoughts are on the situation because the issue comes from a recent court decision
That around the NCAA eligibility, which have open which has opened the door. I'm mixing this up here for some former
NFL players to regain
College eligibility and McVeigh had a funny reaction
He essentially will put up a little a picture of Sean McVeigh actually here so you guys can see a little bit of a confused
Face making a joke here, but essential this isn't actually from this the moment by the way, but Sean McVeigh
He basically said this went pretty viral because I feel like I took a freaking gummy when asked about
College players going back or NFL players going back to play college football try to remain college eligible
Very funny quote from the Rams head coach on McVeigh there
But essentially the reason why he made that joke is because this has been a very chaotic situation
We literally have someone who is currently on the loss of the Cleveland Browns
I should say roster currently about to be waived by the Cleveland Browns in the process of being waived if this player clears waivers
He will go back to play for LSU deal in deal in place already
Apparently going to be allowed to happen. He's gonna go back to college and play some college football. So
It's confusing for most people. I'll be honest. I think for most college football people, especially it's a little more
Crazy when I first heard this I was like, that's not too bad, right?
I think these grown men for sure shouldn't go be able to go into the NFL and not make it and then go back to
college but the same time if you're a
Third year player if you're about to get your college degree or whatever it is
You try to go professional doesn't happen. You got to go back to school. Why not allow that player to play?
I got a hundred percent understand that it might not be fair for some people out there
And if you really do break it down
we're talking about over probably a thousand players and literally a thousand players who are gonna be cut from the
NFL over the next week or so because we're getting closer and closer to the NFL season
So all of those players and influx of these NFL basically talent players
Going back to college football a lot of money is gonna be paid to them
A lot of opportunities are gonna be handed to them
And I think that could obviously mix things up for the players who are currently in college or just entering college
Those are less opportunities for those people for sure
so I can kind of understand it for sure from that perspective and I also feel like if you're going to the NFL you try
To make the roster you made that decision to try to go pro and could it make it happen kind of on you?
Unfortunate gamble you try to risk it all for your career and it didn't work out. That's fine. Go play in
Canada go play arena football go up play something different. Don't go back and try to play
College football that is definitely not the move there. I'm gonna go full screen here. I know I'm lagging pretty bad here
So I'm go full screen on the college football player here again. I think this is
Let me just make sure I get my names correct here
This is I think it's a Quan, right? I believe is his name. I could be completely mistaken on that
I apologize if he's not the specific player that we're talking about
But it is a very very intriguing conversation as being had right now around the NFL around college football
So I'm curious again one more time. I ask you guys to do us a favor it section below
With call you think player should be allowed to go from now on and get the feeling and then be like college
Well, what are your thoughts? Let us know down below in a section
I'm kind of just a little bit cuz I know you know, I probably will be like
Let's talk about which I are very very familiar
Familiar with with having come or say this point stance in whether or not he's gonna return to the Rams at this point in his
Career, we're talking Aaron Donald yet again this time
Because enough stressor for Sean McVeigh this has to be a
Frustrating situation for him as he's trying to be as patient as possible with the Rams legend and Aaron Donald
but Aaron Donald has still
Not made a decision on whether or not he is coming back to the Los Angeles Rams coming back to play football in the NFL
For the 2026 2027 NFL season now, why is that a concern? Well, yes, Aaron Donald hasn't played since
2023 so you want to see if he's ready to go want to see if you can help this Rams team
Those are multiple reasons there for sure
But the season's only 16 days away and the clock is starting to become a real factor here
I wanted you guys to see my face for a second to know that I'm here I exist
I'm here, but I'm going full screen again because my visuals are lagging or if they horrifically trying to fix you guys
I promise but it's not working out for me
But Aaron Donald hasn't played since 2023. He's trying to come back make a comeback. That's exciting stuff
but with 16 days left Aaron Donald you got to make some type of decision because the Rams now have to prepare a
53-man roster like literally by this weekend
So the Rams apparently according to Sean McVay are actually preparing for both scenarios
Sean McVay isn't sitting around waiting for Donald's decision
The Rams are essentially building two versions of their 53-man roster one with Aaron
One without Aaron Donald McVay says there's they're trying to remain flexible because they don't know exactly when Donald could
Realistically return how quickly he could get back into NFL shape
That means Donald's decision could directly affect which defensive lineman makes the final roster
Even if Donald returns, he probably won't just walk in and play 60 snaps
I mean, that's also a key there and I'm gonna go to this full screen here of some other players
I mean look at these other guys that are gonna have to fight for some playing time or not
Kobe Turner probably but Brayden fists Puna Ford other defensive tackle names on this roster, right?
Those guys are really gonna have to sit back and say man
We really got to wait for this guy to make a decision to see how this season might play out for us
That's a little bit frustrating
I think for a locker room now most guys are probably gonna just take it on the chin accept it and be like it's fine
It's Aaron Donald. We want him back on the roster totally understand that that's that's very valid
But that is the reality the Rams are currently sitting with so this is the part where you got to pay attention, right?
Donald hasn't played an NFL game since
2023 so getting back into football shape is a separate issue from from simply deciding to return to play
For the Los Angeles Rams will he return?
well, it looks like he might but if he does return how soon can he actually be a
Type of version of Aaron Donald his normal self. How long will that be? How many snaps?
How many how much effort is gonna put to get back into that shape?
That is kind of the question right here
But I would I would anticipate that this could be an issue for some guys in the locker room
I'm not saying anyone's gonna hate Aaron Donald for taking his time
But we got to know you know
and if for some guys to be excited about making the roster then all of a sudden
To get cut from the roster because Aaron Donald decides to come back or or whatever it is
I don't know how the Rams are gonna decide to finalize this roster
But it is a little bit concerning for me that he still hasn't done it
Especially because we're 16 games are days away from the Rams playing their first football game
I think maybe tell them you really want to come back
Let's talk contract and then I'll figure out the shape stuff later
because at this point he's worked out for a couple of weeks now a couple months at this point it feels like and I
Feel like it would be nice to know yes or no that way the Rams can kind of sort things out with the roster
But you let me know your thoughts down below in the comment section with just 16 days to go
Before the Rams are playing their first football game. Are you frustrated with Aaron down that making a decision?
Are you still thinking the Rams should be patient? Are you worried about the Rams having two different 53 men rosters?
for
Aaron Donald specifically, how do you feel about all of it? Let me know in the comment section down below
How do you feel by Aaron Donald being up in the air about potentially returning to the Los Angeles Rams other than that?
That's gonna do it for me on today's episode of the Rams digest
