Hi and welcome on to AFTV Transfer Daily, the show that keeps you up to date with players that
have been linked with a summer transfer move to Arsenal. You know what, it's been a good weekend
just kicking back as I said yesterday and watching all the games. Man City, how fortunate did they
get yesterday? And Liverpool, I'm sorry that penalty they got right at the end to get the
equaliser against Newcastle. But I'll tell you what, watching all the games you could see that
of all the teams at the moment looking really, really good shape to try and retain their title.
By the way, I've got this book here. It's called 22 Years by Ihsan Khan. I've got an interview that
I did with him, the author of this book. He's a journalist and a great interview that I did. It's
going to be out tomorrow and I've got a signed copy of this book to give away. I'm going to give
it away tomorrow on Transfer Daily so make sure you're locked in for that. The big story is all
about Julian Alvarez and it looks like it's going to be that way right up to the transfer window.
Yesterday, Atletico Madrid first home game of the season against Villarreal. All eyes were on
Alvarez. He didn't start the game. He was on the bench. He came on in the 66th minute and he got
mercilessly booed by the home fans. They booed him relentlessly every time he touched the ball. I mean
it wasn't nice to see but they made their feelings clear and you can't blame him. He wants to go
and join one of their deadliest rivals in Barcelona. At the end of the game, now we know
especially in Europe, when the game finishes all the players go over to the ultras and get serenaded
and you know they thank them for coming. He didn't go over to them. He went
straight down the tunnel. Now we were being told after the game that that was on instruction
by the management of Atletico. They said don't go over to the fans at the end. Just get out. Go down
the tunnel. Listen, this is a situation that is really, really bad. It's not going to be able to
go on. Only a couple of things can happen here, right? I said it yesterday. He apologises. Comes
out, apologises and just gets his head down and stays at the club and hopefully the fans forgive
him. The other alternative obviously for him is he gets out of the club. Now where does he go?
Is it Barcelona? They are still digging their heels in Atletico Madrid and they are saying
absolutely no way are we selling you to Barcelona and if he does go to Barcelona, you can see
from the reaction of the fans yesterday that you know they may even turn on the owners of the club
and say listen you told us you're not going to sell him to Barcelona and you went and did it,
right? So there's that situation. His out could be to come to Arsenal. Now it's funny I was chatting
to a friend of mine, Sid, who does a Real Madrid channel, really good Real Madrid channel over
there in Spain and he was reminding me that this situation has happened before at Atletico Madrid
with Sergio Aguero. Aguero wanted to go, wanted to leave Atletico Madrid to go to Real Madrid.
Atletico dug their heels in and said absolutely no way. The fans weren't happy with him because he's
spoken about Real Madrid and in the end he ended up going to Manchester City. That was the only
club they would agree to sell him to and the rest is history. He didn't go to Manchester City and
cry because he didn't get his dream move to Real Madrid. He didn't not play his best for Real
Madrid. He did. He was you know one of their best players ever. He scored their goal to win them
their first title in the Premier League era. So listen, this could be the same sort of situation
happening again with Julian Alvarez. Arsenal want him. Arsenal are prepared to pay the big money for
him. They're probably one of the only other clubs out there that are willing to meet what's going
to be a massive fee. My friend also suggesting that maybe Real Madrid with all the signings
they've made, sorry Barcelona, with all the signings they made may not have the funds to get this deal
over the line now because it's going to be about 130 million pounds. Where is he going to end up?
This is going to be the big one of the transfer window. We've already been involved with the one
with Vinicius Junior. Now Arsenal involved again with the next big one, Julian Alvarez.
Where does he end up? Does Lloris end up going the other way as well? Because you know they're
lacking, if Alvarez goes, they're really lacking a striker. It looks like Solov who's their other
striker could be moving out. I mean they've still got Lukman but so this saga is going to run until
the transfer window closes or unless he comes out and says he's staying. The next big one for him
and actually the big indicator is going to be this. Next game for Atletico Madrid,
Saturday away at Sevilla. If he's not in that squad at all, I think that tells you that Alvarez
is going to be leaving. It's going to be a big week in this saga. One player that is starting to look
like, forget it, is Keenan Yildiz. He started for Juventus yesterday, completely the opposite,
did come off but he did start the game. They've already said Juventus that they don't want to
sell him. It was interesting that Hand of Arsenal, the ITK, was talking to fans yesterday
and he said that Arsenal were apparently willing to do a swap deal with Juventus which would have
included Gabriel Martinelli plus cash but that was turned down as well. They don't want to sell
Yildiz. As I said, Yildiz is their main guy so it looks like that deal is not going to happen
Bradley Barcola is an interesting one. Now listen, he's all set to go to Liverpool. Liverpool have
been the team that have been right ahead of the curve all summer when it comes to trying to get
this deal done. A very expensive deal, that's probably why it hasn't been done yet. When you
watch Liverpool yesterday, you can see they do need a wide player. He wasn't in the PSG squad
yesterday, Barcola, again another big indicator. Not in the squad at all in their 2-2 draw against
Rennes. Some journalists out there suggesting that Arsenal are keeping close eye and close tabs on
the situation and could be planning to hijack the move for Barcola. There's been these rumours all
summer that he would actually prefer a move to Arsenal rather than live in London and going all
the way to Liverpool but Liverpool's still the favourites to sign him. I'd be surprised if this
hijack was to happen but you can't rule it out when we get into these sort of last weeks of the
transfer window. That isn't an interesting one. Foot Mercato, the publication over there in France
are claiming that Arsenal are still interested in the Lille forward, Mateus Fernandes Pardo.
Belgium player had a really, really good breakout season for Lille last year and has been attracting
a lot of interest from clubs. Atletico Madrid, one of the clubs interested him. I was talking about
how they'd like a striker. Lille, however, do not want to sell him. However, the talk is that they
would be willing to sell him if they could receive a fee of around about £60 million. That's a lot
I think Atletico offered about £37 million for him and that was turned down. Lille's seeking
£60 million so one to watch there. Never know, Arsenal might just turn to a gem but he's been
linked with a move to Arsenal today. A player that looks like he's going to be on his way out, we've
spoken about this one quite extensively, is Gabriel Martinelli. David Ornstein yesterday broke the
over a possible move. Arsenal looking for around about £60 million for Martinelli. We know these
clubs over there in Saudi, they do have the money but I think the big one on this is that Martinelli
is open to a move. He's not against a move to Al Hilal. You may be surprised by that, you know,
he's still only 25 but he would get a massive financial package if he goes there. Probably
double his wages so you can see the attraction of, you know, Al Hilal and as I said yesterday,
players still now getting selected for their national teams when playing in Saudi. Saudi's
starting to get much more recognised as a footballing nation. And lastly, this one here,
Eli Krupi, of course, out injured at the moment for up to three months with a foot injury that he
got in pre-season. He was away at a training camp and picked up this foot injury. It's interesting
that Hand of Arsenal was saying yesterday and then it was then repeated by some other journalists
that if Arsenal don't get their targets this summer, they may wait till January and try and
see if they can get Krupi away from Bournemouth. That will be very difficult, that won't be ideal,
it's very difficult to get players like that away from their clubs in January and we know that the
price goes up even more. So, Arsenal would love to get this Alvarez deal done, it's quite obvious now.
Let's see what happens in the last week of the transfer window for the summer.
Thanks for watching the show and I'll see you tomorrow.
