This Art Deco Cabinet Wasn't Meant to Look Like This

This Art Deco cabinet wasn't meant to look like this...
What started as a tired and heavily worn Art Deco display cabinet turned into one of the most interesting restoration projects I've worked on.
This beautiful 1930s-style cabinet had plenty of problems to overcome, including damaged veneer, a tired finish and areas that had seen better days. But rather than simply restore it to how it originally looked, I wanted to take the opportunity to create something completely unique and bespoke.
In this furniture restoration, I'll take you through the entire process — from the initial condition of the cabinet, through the repairs, preparation and refinishing, to the finished piece.
The result is an Art Deco cabinet with a completely new lease of life and, I think, a character all of its own.
