We Stayed At A Closed Theme Park

We left from Blackwater Meadow Marina and drove the scenic route, it was stunning.

We arrived at Matlock Bath in Derbyshire, where Chris booked us into the Gulliver's Kingdom Theme Park and accommodation. Upon arrival the kids were excited to see the bright colours and the theme park mascot, however we noticed that it was very quiet. But we just thought that it was quiet as it was off-season - little did I know what was to be revealed.

Whilst Chris reminisced the times in his childhood when he came to the UK attraction with school trips, we walked up the hill to the entrance, but noticed that the gates were closed, tensions were very high.

Chris somehow managed to convince them to open the gates. Eventually one of the agents opened up.

We drove though the empty theme park with Columbus stopping at the crows nest climbing frame, Gulliver's Lost Kingdom and the Safari. We would of got stuck if we went any further. It was fantastic to get exclusivity to do that, maybe they felt sorry for us...

Whilst at Gulliver's Kingdom we stayed at their new development - The Willow, our self catering apartment was called Ratty.

As we walked through the doors and it felt like a wooden log cabin, the smell of wood left a sweet lingering aroma.

Everything wood was hand made, the tables, chairs, cladding and on the walls.

The attention to detail was evident, with fishing roads on the walls and real branches on the ceiling. It really was a treat . The kids loved their room that had 2 double bunk beds.

We stayed the night at the theme park and went to The Heights Of Abraham, the views during the flight was fantastic. The cavern at the top was educational for the kids. Inside was humid and rustic, the fossils were visible for us to see the millions of years of infusion.
