The Nuclear Deal That Could Change Utah Real Estate Forever
Utah just made the shortlist for a federal nuclear campus... billions in investment, thousands of jobs, and the nations' nuclear waste. Here's what it means if you're moving to Utah.
Utah is one of five finalists for a U.S. Department of Energy "nuclear lifecycle innovation campus" proposed for Tooele County's west desert, roughly 10 miles from the Great Salt Lake. Gov. Cox signed a memorandum of understanding with Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and a host agreement could be signed by September 30. The state is negotiating for help with the drying Great Salt Lake in exchange. Environmental groups say the trade-off isn't worth the price.
If you're thinking about living in Utah, this is the kind of news that moves jobs, population, and home values and I break down exactly which counties and neighborhoods stand to gain or lose.
