I feel like this video is going to make some people mad, but I also want to help you because
I know you want to look and feel your absolute best and maybe you're following the wrong
trend, you're doing the wrong thing, someone told you that you need to do it.
I have been making these videos about the no makeup makeup look, beauty made simple,
like less is more for years now.
And I keep repeating the exact same routine over and over and over and over and over again
because I'm trying to get the point across about doing your makeup less is more.
As I'm becoming more of an outdoorsy active person, I realized how much better I look
with so much less.
So I wanted to share with you guys two things, trends that I'm finding that people are doing
wrong.
Also things that I've been loving that have been really changing the way I view myself.
That's going to be through makeup.
That's going to be through my routine.
So let's get into it because I have a lot to talk about.
The first and number one thing that is a dead giveaway when your face is either too fair
for your body, you're wearing too much makeup to make your face match your body.
You don't know how to pick a foundation because you want it to be a few shades darker.
Like I think we are all a victim of buying a shade darker just because we want to believe
we're a little bit more tan than we are.
I definitely do this and I've gotten better over the years of learning my colors and shades.
However, I've recently been introduced to doing the underneath base that makes the difference.
This is going to be a product that just kind of makes everything uniform.
You can see that my arms and my face are now closer to the same color and that was not
the case last night.
I looked how I usually look like just pale in the face and all of a sudden with a little
layer of this product, my face just feels more glowy, more youthful.
My teeth are whiter.
My eyes are brighter.
Like I just look healthier with a little bit of color.
So if you want something like that, this is a face sleeping mask.
It's from Bondi Sands and it's the pure self-tanning sleep mask has hyaluronic acid, vitamin C.
I do not put this on for its skincare benefits.
I put this on before bed just to make my skin glowy and more tan.
When I wake up, it's not streaky.
There's no like residue.
It doesn't feel weird.
It just feels like a moisturizer smells like a self-tanner, but it doesn't bother me.
And it's the one that doesn't cause my face to break out.
I don't love a lot of the drops.
So if that's you and you want to wear less makeup, but you want to look more tan, I've
been on set so many times.
And if you guys are just now seeing me for the first time, I've been a model for the
past 12 years.
I get my hair and makeup done religiously by thousands and thousands of people.
And sometimes when my face is so fair, they're trying to match my body and they put on so
much bronzer and so much like darker color and it just looks muddy and it looks heavy.
It looks dirty.
So we want to avoid the look of being dirty, but we want to look tan.
So something like this, a better base.
Now, if you're not interested in a self-tanner, I have a plan B, this color from West Mediterranean.
It's a soy a parfait one.
I'll have all of these linked in the description for you.
This is one of the best colors.
I already have a good color going on.
I'm not going to go too crazy with this.
Otherwise I will literally look insane.
It is like a liquid dropper.
I just use a couple drops and I'll show you how I blend it in.
Hey, what are you doing?
Oh, excuse me.
My favorite brush right now to feather this out is this one from Mary Phillips.
And I think it's got an interesting reputation.
I think people aren't really understanding how to use it.
It's definitely more professional grade for the average user, but it's really fun once
you get the hang of it.
I love to use this iris and Romeo spray has skincare as hyaluronic acid.
It's going to plump the skin and hydrate it.
This is a step that a lot of people skip is just skincare.
And sometimes I find doing too much skincare or too little skincare.
It's a very, very fine line we'll get into in step two of how to regulate that.
So some days when I'm feeling really pale, I'll put a lot more dots than this, but I'll
just give myself a good mist.
This isn't like any other face mist on the market because it actually does hydrate your
skin.
So it's like moisturizer in a bottle, I guess is the best way I can put it.
Like it really doesn't glow up your skin.
So if you rub too much powder down or you're feeling like flat throughout the day, dry
skin, this is going to be amazing.
So this is the reset hyaluronic acid serum spray from Iris and Romeo.
I find the mist mixed with the bronzing drops allows it to kind of spread more evenly on
the skin because it's more hydrated for me.
I'm freaking sweaty right now.
Like it's hot in my house.
It is summertime.
I don't want a ton of makeup on.
I want my skin to be glowy, but not sweaty.
I want it to be that perfect hybrid.
And I think what a lot of people are doing as well, what I'm seeing trends online is
like super wet face in real life.
It looks great.
And I'm so sorry to say that because I'm going to piss off so many people.
Glowing healthy skin is one thing and like wet and sweaty is another.
So that brings me to point two.
And that is about your skin prep.
I would apply something like this.
That's more of a milk.
This is the prequel half and half milk.
You can use the glazing milk, you can use the Ilia milk, like any milk, honestly, it
doesn't really matter.
But a thick, heavy moisturizer, especially in the daytime under your makeup during the
summer is a recipe for a disaster, especially if you're doing that, plus you're doing something
like this on top of it, your makeup is just going to move everywhere and melt off.
And the only way to prevent that from happening, you guessed it, more powder, especially for
people who are following me, who are more my mom's age, she's in her sixties and like,
I would never recommend a thick white moisturizer with SPF, with this, with that, with, no,
you can't, you just can't.
And then you can't add powder to it because then it just, it's all going to set into your
fine lines.
So we want something really light.
You can see how that blended in.
It's so natural.
And if you added more, I would just be a little bit more tan.
The next mistake I see people making is with their brows.
They're picking a color that's not the right color.
There may be overfilling it.
And it's so easy to do that.
I have some brow pencils here that are super pigmented and they're really hard to work
with.
And I actually ran out of my favorite eyebrow pencil.
It's the one from Kosas.
I will link that one down below.
I have so much makeup.
Every time I go to do a tutorial, I end up grabbing the same thing over and over again.
I need to start, I need to like go through the things that I own.
So this is, this is me doing that.
During the summer specifically, I like to do my brows earlier in the process because
I'm not really wearing foundation.
I'm not really wearing anything full coverage.
Also helps kind of like shape your face, like it makes everything just kind of look better
in my opinion.
My favorite way to do my brows is to do like a really soft little back and forth line at
the bottom.
And then I take that bottom line of product and blend it up because I think that hard
line, once you blend it up, it kind of disperses and then you can go back in to these little
fair places and just fill in where necessary.
This brow pencil is actually from Winky Lux, which is a brand that you can find at Ulta.
It's kind of medium price range, but I really actually, this is why I'm so glad sometimes
when I run out of my favorite stuff because I'm forced to use other things and I'm like,
oh wait, but this is great too.
Nine times out of 10, if not every single time I'm using color taupe on my brows.
Tint and Protect SPF 50.
This is incredible.
I use color light medium.
I'm going to put the most micro micro dots on here just to show you, if you're someone
who's going out at night, maybe you're acne prone, maybe you have a lot to cover up and
you want something for the evening, I have two.
This one is from Mary Phillips, it's the MPH Beauty Lay Skin.
I use color light.
This is kind of the perfect hybrid between foundations and tints and all the things.
It's really hydrating.
Like any age, this is going to look beautiful on you and it's clean, not toxic.
One of my favorite holy grails, like if you are somebody who's acne prone and you want
something that's going to spot treat, that's not necessarily your concealer, that's a foundation,
it's going to make your skin look amazing.
If I'm going somewhere important or to an event and I want my skin to look like actual
perfection, I'm going to use the Dior Beauty Foundation Stick and I use color 2N.
I'm going to use a lip oil really quick.
This one is the best moisturizing lip product that I've found in a really long time.
I love everything from this brand.
It's called Primally Pure and it's their lip oil, 100% clean, non-toxic, so it actually
does hydrate and nourish your lip, follows me everywhere I go.
I guess four, is this four?
The fourth mistake I see people making is applying so much concealer.
So much concealer.
We don't need more than this much, but every time people do that and they go like a whole
thing here and then it looks flawless in the video, I know that in real life, it looks
like a lot.
It does not look like your skin because I like putting a tiny bit and then I like it
to actually cover what I want.
If you use a heavy, heavy concealer and you use a tiny bit, it can still look like you
have a lot on, but if you use a lightweight concealer and you have dark circles, if you
put a tiny, tiny bit on, it's not going to cover.
So you need something that's kind of between the two, which is why I'm obsessed with this
one.
I'm a broken record with this guy.
This is Color Mesh from Ilia.
The moment I got it, I tried it and I've been shook ever since.
If you're not using a concealer brush, you need one.
This one is from Niki La Rose N16 Best Concealer Brush because I love the way it has this little
angle on it and you can almost like paint the concealer and place it and press it in
where you want.
So I focus it down below.
I've made a full video about how to conceal your under eyes because if you guys did not
know, my under eyes are the thing that bothered me the most and I even almost got a lower
blepharoplasty to get rid of them and I ended up not doing it.
Long story.
We can talk about it in another video.
Feather it out and then the next thing is to just let it sit, like let your concealer
sit down in its place after you kind of put it where you want.
Not all the way up under your eye, just slightly because if you put it too close up under there,
A, you don't need concealer there and B, that's where you're going to crease a lot.
So if you have a ton of product just sitting in an area, it's going to build up and then
it's going to look heavy and then guess what?
It's going to crease.
You're not going to like it.
You're going to have to add more powder, then your under eyes are going to look even more
dry and wrinkly and crepey and we do not want that.
Whenever I use less concealer, I need less powder.
Whenever I use less foundation, I need less powder.
The more powder, the more dry, the more old you look.
I'm sorry, but that's kind of the truth, especially for people who have fine lines and wrinkles.
And I realized that I also might have girls watching this video who are 16 years old and
who are like, I don't give a about that.
It kind of goes for everybody.
It could be the girl who's 16 and it could be the girl who's 60.
I think my makeup is so universal to all ages.
I always just take the remainder amount of concealer that's on my brush onto my lids.
I don't add more concealer onto my lids.
Again, too much, you'll crease.
You don't need it.
You literally just need enough to kind of conceal and get rid of any redness.
I have really veiny eyelids.
Our brows are done.
Our foundation is done.
Our concealer is done.
Contour is a big deal for me.
I do it almost every single day.
Some days, sometimes, especially during the summer when I have a little bronzy tan going
on, I don't necessarily want it because if I'm glowy and I'm dewy, if you don't have
any foundation on your skin and then you put something like a contour on it, it can look
really muddy and it can move around a lot.
It doesn't have any glue to like hold onto it.
So if you're going to do your contour, this is the next thing I would say.
Just above and make the tiniest, tiniest little line.
I was doing way too much, like all this back and forth action.
I didn't go in much on SPF and I know people are going to drill me about that in the comments.
So before I get further, the Good Weather Skin SPF Warm Glow is literally my favorite
SPF I've ever used.
A 15% zinc oxide count.
It doesn't get your skin gross.
It's not weird.
There's no texture.
It's like no white cast.
It's perfect.
Next tip I have is over-powdering and I keep saying this, I'm going to say it again.
I'm actually almost out of this setting powder.
That's how much I love it.
My next tip that I found that I love, I don't know what number we're on anymore, but if
you are somebody who's still using those little powder puff pads to powder down your face,
motivate you to use a brush because they use it a lot on set and I find it to be more professional
grade.
Like it just feels more luxurious when you're doing it.
But also, I feel like when I use the powder puff, it's kind of hard to control how much
is in each given area, but when I use a brush like this, actually comes in a kit if you
wanted to from Nikila Rose.
This is the N14 brush, but I go into the powder, always, always get rid of it.
I watched my mom use a powder brush like this, go into it and then straight on her face.
When I saw it, I was like, ah, like don't do that.
I literally dip the tiniest bit into the powder.
This is the Makeup by Mario setting powder in fair pink.
It's my favorite.
Can you see how much comes off on my hand?
I went next to nothing on this brush.
We want to set it down, but we don't want it to look set down.
You can use a big fluffy brush like this, maybe use the lid of whatever is remaining
in here and then do the same thing and knock it off on your hand and then you can do a
quick little dusting.
That's it.
You don't need more than that.
During the summer, I love to wear a blush that stays, that's creamy and hydrating, but
dries down and looks beautiful.
I've been using this nonstop and it's the Water Blush from Refi and it's kind of like
a sponge.
It was kind of weird at first because it's so wet, but the way it makes your skin look
is like all I want.
I want my skin to just look like skin.
I don't want it to look like it has anything on it.
I could just go crazy with this and build, build, build and put it everywhere and my
skin in the sun, when you see it, it's like, bam, like it's so pretty.
I'm going to use Before Dawn Mascara from ILIA because I think it's really pretty and
really natural and it's a very nice soft dark brown because A, I really like the way the
wand works and I really, really like the color pale.
Moving on to my actual favorite part, which is my next point, which is going to definitely
piss off some people.
Very trendy right now.
I like to clean off my lips and I like to use a lip liner that's a little bit more of
a bronze, kind of like darker color.
I'll show you.
I'll show you what happens.
So I love to use this one.
It's the color June from Merit and it's very hydrating.
Look at my tan with my lip color, like we're already in a really good place.
I want to use a lip liner, not to necessarily overline, but to create almost a shadow.
So what I'm finding a lot of influencers doing and they're just lining their whole lips and
I do it a lot too, like it doesn't look bad, but on days where I really want to look like
just beautiful, I guess if that's the right word, like feel really pretty, I will use
a color like this because it almost has more of a brown tone to it and I love that to make
this type of a shadow and it's really hydrating as well.
So what I do is I go around the lips a little bit higher in the top, a little bit lower
in the bottom, blend it out a little bit with my fingers and now I have an overline that
looks more like a darker shadow.
If you don't outline your lips with almost a darker color to create the idea of a shadow,
you are very much giving a dead giveaway that your lip liner is just like overpowering your
face.
It's overdrawn.
It looks overdrawn.
Like right now, I don't look like I have overdrawn lips.
I look like I have really big, juicy plump lips, right?
I just don't like a wet gloss.
It's not my vibe.
I like looking more approachable.
Like sometimes when I see a super shiny lip on somebody, I'm like, that's too, that's
kind of gross.
So I love to use this guy.
It's from Mary Phillips and it's in color Tickled Pink and I'll kind of just like bring
it in and it just brings out that pink natural hue that is already in my lip.
It goes really well with the color June.
I like how hydrating liner is.
Some of the liners that I have are like a little bit too drying and honestly could leave
it there.
But what I'm going to do is just hydrate my lips with this Primarily Pure.
It's pretty clear, but it has a tiny bit of a pink hue, nothing too shiny.
Something that's hydrating, that's going to bring a lot of life into your lips is all
you need.
And now I feel like I have a perfect glowing face that's not too shiny.
That's not too anything.
This is literally the best makeup I feel like I've done in a really long time.
I could go out like this and feel just so beautiful and put together and it could literally
take you a few minutes.
Less is more.
If you're not going to take your time to do your makeup, do not just put on more.
But that's it.
I love you guys.
Thank you so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video.
