Coral spawning

Scientists from 12 organizations collaborated in the Florida Keys to collect eggs and sperm during the rare annual spawning of Elkhorn and staghorn corals. By strategically crossing different coral populations, they aim to increase genetic diversity and create resilient corals capable of surviving warmer, more acidic ocean conditions to restore declining reef populations.
