Take french baguette and slice it into one inch thick slices.
Place them into the baking sheet. Drizzle with some olive oil.
Season it with salt and pepper. Place it into the preheated 350 degrees
fahrenheit oven for approximately 18 minutes
or until it's fully toasted. Preheat the pan to medium high heat.
Add 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter and about 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
Add the onions into the pan. Season it with salt.
Salt will bring out the water from the onions and they will caramelize faster.
Caramelizing onions properly is the key for the best french onion soup.
Saute the onions for about 30 minutes on a medium heat.
Make sure to keep an eye on it. Stirring occasionally.
Pour 2 cups of sherry wine. Make sure that is dry sherry wine
and reduce 75 percent of it. Add couple strings of thyme
and add 7 cups of beef stock. Season your soup with salt and pepper.
Cover with the lid, lower the heat and cook for 30 minutes.
My crostinis are ready. 30 minutes passed. Let's set up the soup. Pour the soup into
the bowl. Put crostini on top. Add 2 slices of
aged swiss cheese. Shaved gruyere and top it with the
grated parmesan cheese. Place it in the oven and broil on high
for 5 to 8 minutes or until you see the cheese becomes
golden brown. Take a look at this beautiful delicious
french onion soup. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
