Deep in the mountains of Qingyuan, Guangdong Province, I discovered an extraordinary place perched high on a mountaintop. Nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, this ancient village has stood here for more than a thousand years. At first, I thought the village might have been abandoned. But after climbing all the way to the top and entering the village, I quickly realized how wrong I was.
