Extraordinary Antiques & Collectibles I Found at Auction

Join me for another auction exhibition, where we explore remarkable antiques, fine furniture and decorative arts before they go under the hammer.
In this episode of Eduardo Art Odyssey, I take you through a selection of fascinating objects I discovered during my latest visit to the auction house.
We begin with an impressive marquetry cabinet made by the Daidé cabinetmaking workshop in Paris, decorated with striking black and gilt caryatid figures. We then discover an elegant Empire-period gilt bronze mantel clock depicting the mythological story of Cyparissus and his young stag.
Along the way, I also take a closer look at a beautiful walnut burl glazed cabinet, a delicate set of 19th-century openwork porcelain pieces, and an exuberant Rocaille console table in carved and gilded wood, with sculptural winged figures and a beautiful green marble top.
And one of these pieces produced a particularly surprising auction result: estimated at only €400–€600, the Rocaille console attracted 39 bids and eventually sold for €3,400.
This is what I love about visiting auction exhibitions: you never quite know what you are going to discover. From exceptional craftsmanship and unusual details to the stories behind the objects, there is always something worth looking at more closely.
