Located 30 km from Cairo, the oldest known Egyptian necropolis lies at the foot of the Pyramid of Djoser. The 14th archaeological excavation campaign, which began in April 2004 under the direction of Christiane Ziegler, yielded exceptional results for the entire team from the Louvre Museum's Department of Egyptian Antiquities. Yet, this massive project was also a shared experience with the Egyptian workers hired for the undertaking.
