A Slow August Day in the English Countryside | Making Rose Hip Syrup & Sourdough

Welcome to a cosy August day at home in the English countryside, enjoying some of the simple seasonal things I love at this time of year. 🌿

In today’s video, I’m foraging for rose hips before making homemade rose hip syrup, which will be perfect for the winter months ahead. I’m also baking sourdough and decorating my loaf with oats and chia seeds to create beautiful little flowers before it goes into the oven.

With summer slowly beginning to change and the first little signs of autumn appearing, I’m making the most of these last days of August...foraging, baking and enjoying the quiet, cosy moments at home.

I hope this video encourages you to slow down, enjoy the beauty of the season, and find joy in the simple rhythms of home.

Thank you for being here!

🌹Rose hip syrup recipe:
4 cups rose hips
4 cups water
1 cup sugar
Simmer the rose hips in the water for about 20-25 minutes. Mash gently, then strain through a muslin to ensure all needles are left behind. Return the liquid to the pan, add the sugar and gently heat until dissolved. Pour into a clean sterilised jars and refrigerate.
