Opening and Early Years (1978): Developed by Crown American, the mall opened in 1978 as the second enclosed shopping center in Frederick, following Frederick Towne Mall. Its original anchor stores were Sears, Hess's, and Gee Bee.
Anchor Changes and Expansions (1990s–2000s): Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, the center underwent significant retailer turnovers. Leggett opened in 1991 and was later acquired and sold to JCPenney in 1996. Hess's was sold to Hecht's in 1995, which eventually rebranded to Macy's in 2006. Value City replaced Gee Bee in 1992 before transitioning into Value City Furniture and DSW in 2008. Barnes & Noble added an anchor presence in 2007, followed by Dick's Sporting Goods in 2014.
