Tarxien Temples Malta – Older Than the Pyramids & Still Full of Secrets

Standing in a modern Maltese suburb, surrounded by washing lines and ordinary houses, you suddenly find yourself face-to-face with one of the most elaborately decorated prehistoric temple complexes on Earth.

The Tarxien Temples were built between roughly 3600 and 2500 BC — older than the Great Pyramid of Giza and older than Stonehenge. Here the Temple Builders left behind intricate spiral carvings, processions of animals in low relief, a colossal skirted statue (only the lower half survives), sealed altars, a finely crafted flint knife, and the famous stone spheres that were almost certainly used as rollers to move the massive limestone megaliths.

In this video, I walk the entire complex, examine the key artefacts, and explore the bigger questions these stones still raise: Who were the people who built them? Why did they invest so much effort in ritual architecture? And what caused this sophisticated culture to disappear so completely?
