Could This Painting Really Be Charlotte Brontë?

Is this a forgotten painting of Charlotte Brontë?
Attributed to the Victorian artist Abraham Solomon, this little-known painting raises far more questions than it answers. Did Charlotte Brontë really sit for the artist? Did she ever know the painting existed? And what documentary evidence survives to support its fascinating story?
In this video, I put the kettle on and disappear down another Brontë rabbit hole, exploring original sources, Charlotte Brontë's surviving letters, Victorian records and the painting's provenance to discover what we actually know, what has been suggested over the years and what still remains a mystery.
Along the way, we'll look at George Richmond's famous portrait of Charlotte Brontë, the evidence surrounding Abraham Solomon, the history of the painting itself and why careful research is so important when investigating Brontë history. Rather than repeating long-held assumptions, I wanted to follow the evidence wherever it led, even if that meant ending with more questions than answers.
