Hello friends, welcome to day 220 of betting $100 every day for a year.
We took a step in the right direction last night, 2-2 for a profit of $12.76.
That brings our year-to-date record to 375 wins, 392 losses, 12 pushes for a profit of $200.07.
Back up over the $200 mark by 7 cents.
Baseball, again, dog days of summer continue, at least tomorrow.
I think we have some NFL preseason and some golf to bet on instead.
But right now we just got baseball, so let's get into it.
We're going to start $30 on the Tigers, minus $118 against the Cleveland Guardians.
Tigers have a losing record this season, 59-60.
They have a run differential of plus 89.
I don't know how that's mathematically possible.
That is the best mark in the entire American League.
But more importantly, they've been especially good lately.
Second in the majors in WRC Plus over the past 30 days.
They have a lefty on the mound in Framboise Valdez.
That's bad news for the Guardians today.
The Guardians' WRC Plus drops from 97 when facing right-handed pitchers down to
88 against left-handed pitchers, which is 26th in the majors.
So I'll back the Tigers here as home favorites in that one.
Then I got $20 on the same bet I placed yesterday in the Cubs-Nationals game, over 9.5 minus 102.
Betting the over again for the exact same reasons.
I think there was 14 combined runs in the game yesterday.
That was one of our two winners.
Going back to well with the same pick because two of the hottest
offenses in baseball over the past 30 days are third and fourth in WRC Plus.
The Nationals also have the best lineup in baseball against left-handed pitchers.
And they faced a lefty yesterday, and now they get to face an even worse lefty
because the Cubs are rolling with David Peterson.
David Peterson was a 535 ERA this season.
So not good.
I'll bet the over 9.5 once again between the Cubs and the Nationals.
Also have $20 on the Mariners as my upset pick of the day at plus 119 against the Yankees.
The Mariners have the advantage, in my opinion, both offensively and on the mound for pitching.
They are starting Bryce Miller with a 308 ERA.
Will Warren gets the start for the Yankees with a 418 ERA.
He is not a lefty, which is of course important because the Mariners can't hit lefties.
And the Yankees offense continues to be one of the worst in baseball.
29th in WRC Plus over the past 30 days.
Not good.
I'll take a shot on the Mariners as road underdogs in that one.
And then we'll wrap things up.
$30 on the Rangers.
Minus 127 against the Angels.
Speaking of bad offenses, Angels have a WRC Plus of 68 over the past 30 days.
That is eight points worse than the next worst offense, which is the Yankees.
That's well below the Rangers who have a WRC Plus of 95.
And then to make matters worse for Los Angeles, they're rolling with rookie George Clason on
the mound.
He's allowed seven earned runs in his first 8.2 innings pitched in his career.
The Rangers are responding with Kyle Quantrill, who has been pretty solid this season.
356 ERA since he started pitching for them.
So, I think the Rangers should be much bigger favorites.
I think they have a significant advantage both on the mound and with their offense.
And that's a pretty good price if you can still find it.
Most places have around minus $135, minus $140.
As of recording this, minus $127 is still available at Bet Rivers.
So not only do I like to play, but there's still a decent price out there if you can
jump on it quick enough.
Those are my best bets for today's MLB action.
Best of luck to all your bets.
Gamble or bless.
We will see you back here tomorrow.
