6 Ancient Stones Up to 1,000 Tons — HOW Were They Moved?

This video was created for educational purposes to explore how ancient societies quarried, transported, and erected stone blocks weighing hundreds of tons, and where the limits of their engineering capabilities may have been.

I have tried to clearly distinguish between what is well established and what remains hypothetical. All megalith weights mentioned in this video are calculated estimates based on the volume and density of the stone, not actual measurements. No ancient monolith has ever been placed on a scale. The proposed transportation methods are presented as reconstructions: they are based on tool marks, surviving roads and ramps, and engineering calculations, but none has been experimentally verified at full scale.

I also point out the questions that remain genuinely unresolved. We still do not know how ropes or pulling systems were attached to blocks weighing hundreds of tons. The transport route of the heaviest Egyptian statues has not been reconstructed. It is unclear how thousands of workers could have been positioned on narrow mountain ramps. And the final operation—placing a massive block with extreme precision against an adjacent one—has never been successfully reproduced.

One group of researchers believes that the construction methods have essentially been reconstructed and that the remaining gaps are merely technical details. Another argues that until these reconstructions are successfully demonstrated with real full-scale weights, they remain elegant theories.
