After weeks of negotiations, hopes were growing here that a U.S.-backed 15-point roadmap drawn
up by Nikolai Mildonov to implement President Trump's Gaza peace plan could bring an end
to the war.
But these hopes were shaken after Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the current terms, insisting
that Hamas must be completely disarmed before any Israeli withdrawal.
So how are people here reacting to Benjamin's rejection and what it could mean for them?
What is happening now is essentially an attempt to boost Netanyahu's election campaign.
He wants to reach the elections and then tell people there are no solutions for Gaza.
For people here, the consequences of this rejection will not be measured in political
statements or negotiating rooms.
They will be measured in homes left to ruins and hundreds of thousands of families still
unable to return and children growing up, waiting for a life far beyond war.
After Netanyahu rejected the latest plan, we had been so hopeful that we would finally
see a better life than this, that we could stop carrying water and stop living in tents.
As a student, I dreamed of studying in proper schools.
Hearing directly from the people on the ground shows the distance between the negotiating
table and the reality here.
For them, what comes next is not just a political decision, it will shape their lives in the
days ahead.
